    Low annual mileage

While I’m waiting for the stuff for the filters and oil to turn up, I know there’s a decent amount of ground clearance under FL’s but where is a suitable trolley Jack point to enable axle stands to be used. I’ve another thread going (Whine, whine, whine) and I’ve noticed an oil leak aroungtthe...

    Whine, whine, whine

    I forgot, it’s still 4WD.

    Whine, whine, whine

Hi All, My 06 147k miles FL1 TD4 seemingly has developed a whine. It more noticeable in lower gears at lower speeds. Noticeable too when letting the clutch off after changing up. 2k rpm seems to be it’s ‘sweet spot’ and below 1750 and above 2250 rpm it’s gone. It’s also absent by the time I’m in...

Thank you Col, I’m about to order the bit n pieces for the filters and fluids to be replaced.:D

    Low annual mileage

Thanks Stance. I’ve a quick look on t’bay and seen some 12v pumps for about £13. They look like a good investment.

    Trying to wire cameras etc

Hi David, The SatNav and cameras won’t draw much current so I don’t imagine any issues using the cig lighter socket for them. The seat heater might be another matter though. Check the fuse rating for the cig socket and use the formulas below to calculate if the fuse is up to running all your...

    Low annual mileage

Many thanks Alteredtech and Arctic2 for your assistance today. I’m surprised there’s only on fill point in an ‘odd’ place. The diff’s the same as the Jag, only it’s fill point is behind the rear bulkhead and requires a hole making in that first! Got the syringe.

    Low annual mileage

Apologies Arctic for the confusion. I don’t have the service manual, but only the refurb details. But I’ve decided to replace all the filters and fluids so I’ve at least got a baseline to work off. Speaking of which, how do you replace the gearbox, IRD and diff fluids? Cheers.

    Thanks Alteredtech.

    Low annual mileage

Thanks Alteredtech, Sounds like me, pootling around near home - tip, shop and allotment runs. Think I’ll get the annual service done. The air con doesn’t work, but seeing as we’ve just been through the hottest summer on record and I drove around with all the windows down I think I can live...

    Low annual mileage

Thanks Colt and Arctic, sorry about that. You’ve basically answered my question. I was wondering about at least the engine oil and filter. It’s a 2 litre TD4. It had been serviced by the (LR specialist) dealer. What’s the PCV filter? Cheers, M.

    Low annual mileage

Hi All, I’ve had my 06 FL1 for just over 12 months now an have done 2800 miles in that time. It’s done 147k in total. I’m wondering is there anything I should/ could do to dodge any untoward ‘events’ that may happen because of the low mileage. I’m retired now, but when I was working I did around...

    Drivers window intermittently working

;)Finally got around to investigating the drivers door window. Off with the door card etc disconnected the switches and reconnected them; worked perfectly. Put the card back on and it’s not missed a beat since. Result!! Wish the XK8 was as accommodating.;) Thanks Nodge for your help. M

    Drivers window intermittently working

Hi All, I opened the drivers door window today for some much needed fresh air and when I wanted it closed again there was nothing - no movement no click, nada. I was going out again soon so I left it down. When I got out and about again I tried it and it went up as normal. Of course I put it...

Freelander 1 Post disconnected battery issues?

Thanks as ever Nodge. I do use the rear windows regularly. But I’ve no radio code as yet, so irrespective will leave it connected anyway.

Freelander 1 Post disconnected battery issues?

Many thanks both of you. @Wimblowdriver - it’s a bit of a palaver to leave the battery in situ, although obviously easier post CTEK session. @saxavordian - forgot about the radio code! Aaand can’t find it. So, back to dealer. Battery was new last October, but only done 992 miles. Cheers. M

Freelander 1 Post disconnected battery issues?

Hi All, I’m going to give my FL’s battery a session on the CTEK, as it (FL) doesn’t do many miles and is down to 12.5V. Are there any nasty surprises for the unwary waiting on reconnecting apart from setting the clock? Rather than move the FL, I was thinking just disconnecting the battery and...

    Auxiliary audio input

Thanks Nodge, I’d found that drawing in the meantime. I was hoping it was an analogue out. I’ll add this to the list along with the one for the Jag!:( A double pole selector switch to switch between the CD and auxiliary input should be able to be mounted somewhere around the ICE unit

    Auxiliary audio input

Hi, No unfortunately I’m talking about the MK1. Does anyone have the relevant wiring diagram, or can point me to where it might be found. Cheers, M.

    Auxiliary audio input

Hi Alk, has anyone managed to instal or have some company or organisation modify the 6 disc dash changer/radio to accept an auxiliary audio input? If so, how did you do it? Cheers, M.
