Hi All,
I’m going to give my FL’s battery a session on the CTEK, as it (FL) doesn’t do many miles and is down to 12.5V. Are there any nasty surprises for the unwary waiting on reconnecting apart from setting the clock?
Rather than move the FL, I was thinking just disconnecting the battery and CTEK-ing it in the shed. Much more convenient and defers wife- moan!

Depends how old the battery is. if your having issues already then consider battery age over buying a charger. If okay then record you radio code before removing. remember when putting battery back the tailgate window drop automatically . Key fob function might need resetting. Colder the atmosphere gets greater the battery drains if power to alarm in use. Worth having a run around even fifteen minutes tootle.

I have a cetek plug-in lead permanently attached to the battery in my defender and just connect it to the cetek charger whenever it needs topping up. No need to disconnect the battery and reset everything. I have the charger fixed to the wall in my garage, and the long battery charging lead goes through a small pipe to the outside and from there into the defender where it plugs into the battery lead. 5 minute job to connect everything up and turn the charger on. Doing it this way saves having to re-set the radio, clock, key fob, and keeps the alarm system + tracker live, and I can lock the doors with the fob.

Many thanks both of you.
@Wimblowdriver - it’s a bit of a palaver to leave the battery in situ, although obviously easier post CTEK session.
@saxavordian - forgot about the radio code! Aaand can’t find it. So, back to dealer. Battery was new last October, but only done 992 miles.
Cheers. M

Leave the battery connected, which eliminates any potential unpleasantness with the rear door window cables failing, which they have a tenancy to do if the rear window is never operated all the way down regularly.

Thanks as ever Nodge. I do use the rear windows regularly. But I’ve no radio code as yet, so irrespective will leave it connected anyway.
