    Head Gasket / Cylinder Gone??

This is where it went wrong. If it won't turn by hand don't use starter and certainly don't run it !! Looking at the resultant bag of broken valve, piston, liner and block I would say the timing was miles out. Lock the crank in safe spot and align the cams locking them with the correct tool...

    Freelander 1 K-series 1.8 Fly wheel

I think the crank sensor teeth are different on the Rover. @pscan.eu will be able to advise as he is doing a 1.8k automatic conversion and has had to deal with such issues !!

What have you done to your Freelander today

Finally stripped down my old TD4 engine with the broken crank for spares. Will post some photos and the block is damaged where the crank floated about but for a 135k engine it is really mint. No noticeable wear on bearings, bores or anything really. Now have 3 boxes of all the bits from it for...

    Freelander 1 PSCAN

No. Fraid not. V6s are out of stock at the moment. Don't like working on those, not enough room. K series is easiest and fits nicely in the engine bay. TD4 is a bit of a squash but most things can be done ok.

    Freelander 1 PSCAN

    Not got a pre 2001 1.8 petrol. Only got a 2003 1.8 petrol, 2003 TD4 Sport, 2 x 2002 TD4, 2004 TD4, 2000 TD4 So a bit diesel biased I am afraid.

    Replacement CV Joints - FL1 TD4

No one can produce synthetic rubber that lasts. Got fed up with front wishbone small Bush ripping out round edges. Poly solves problem in suspension but dunno if CV boots available in poly yet?? Secondhand low mileage is what you need. Can't say where from !!

    Changing rear axle bushes

Note that if the front bush is repeatedly failing, maybe your VCU is getting tight and this is a warning. Do the one wheel up test before replacing it and check all isnok.

    Changing rear axle bushes

The poly bushes push in in a bench vice ok with some soap or silicon spray. I use poly on the front bush as all 3 increased the noise bit too much for me. Maybe it is diff wear !!

Centre Console loom colours on Freelander 1 TD4

If it is to plug the switches back onto the wiring connectors, they are configured only to fit the right plugs so should be simple. Guess it is a Freelander 1 ?? If you have cut the plugs off then it is a more involved answer !!!
