    Freelander 1 No gear selection.

Nope - but watching one with interest!

Front lower wishbone: 2006 FL 1

^ +1 Give the whole area a good clean with a wire brush first, to remove as much rust and dirt as possible, especially from the bolt/nut/threads. Soak a few days before you are going to do the job, I use PB blaster. Use good 6-sided sockets, not 12. Work them backwards and forwards slowly when...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Well done for tracing it and finding the culprit

    Freelander 1 Preserving the scarce ! FL1

It’s a nice car… but it’s still 23 years old. Mis-matched tyres on it for a start. Definitely worth saving, just not worth 5k.

    Freelander 1 Preserving the scarce ! FL1

Very tidy indeed, but a lot of money for it

    Long Start Td4

Has the suspension been lifted or altered?

What have you done to your Freelander today

    It’s coming together again… 👍

    Long Start Td4

Why are you burning through drop links so quick. What’s wrong?

    Freelander 1 Cutting out underload

Check the sensor at the end of the fuel rail. Also check the wiring harness for it.

    Freelander 1 Cutting out underload

P1260 is related to the fuel pump, 0190 is fuel pressure related P0500 is a speed sensor issue These could be old codes. Clear them, then run the car and re-read.

    Freelander 1 Cutting out underload

What made you replace the HPFP? What were the symptoms you were trying to fix?

    Freelander 1 Cutting out underload

FL1 td4 presumably? Have you read the codes / got any live data?

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Stand-alone CarPlay screen

So I’m looking at options for a stand-alone screen for the F2. Last week I put one into the F1, that my daughter bought online from Jeff. Made of Chinesium, but Bluetooth calls and maps work quite well for the price (£80 ish). Any one have any recommendations? Know of something that works well...

    Freelander 1 Grey Smoke

Well, that was the symptoms of my first dodgy one - wouldn’t fire up when warm. The second dodgy one (that I found ‘by error’) was me replacing the first one with a cheap knock-off. Had an intermittent electrical fault I think. Lesson learned.

    Freelander 1 Grey Smoke

Thats a bugger… I had something similar on my 1 once… I did some work on the fuel system, replaced filters and the LP pump. The thing would not start after… turned out I also had an intermittently dodgy camshaft sensor! (They don’t throw a code)

Freelander 1 Alloy sump guard/ undertray

I didn’t even notice that… I was too busy looking at the guard! Not good.

    Vehicle pulls L/Right

Sounds like torque steer to me too… that’s where I’d be looking first, to prove or disprove, before replacing parts.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I recently did the same - though it’s been sold given to my daughter. So keeps returning with “can you just…” 😂 It’s nice to see it every few weeks, and she uses it as her daily - loves it. And I can still have a drive 😉 If I’m honest, the 2 is much nicer to drive, even though it’s only 5 years...

Freelander 1 Cold starting issues - What I've done so far

    A td4 timing chain should not need replacing… it’s a chain!
