Ours didn't when I replaced the core plug on the head, below the rocker shaft. Changed the head gasket before realising the core plug was weaping, didn't even know it had core plugs there. Live and learn

I find it strange they use coolant as a matter of course. I have never had to top up coolant on any car we have owned except the Series 2a.

So, you have an old diesel which you have made worse by modifying the inj pump and are now feeling guilty about its emissions. Perhaps it's the wrong vehicle for you. Incidentally I don't like the smell of diesels either but unfortunately it goes with the terrority.

It's not only a MOT fail it's also illegal to remove/modify any emission related parts.

I don't see how a master cylinder has any relevance. My son was getting quoted about £1K for a 200tdi and clutch kit is considerably cheaper.

Forgot to mention my son's has a 1.2 transfer box and I also agree it is fine for all his driving. I would say the longer gear on 1st is beneficial. My Td5 1st gear is almost a waste of time, as soon as you are moving it's then straight into 2nd.

Is a 300tdi any more powerful? My son has a 200tdi and that will do 70 on the motorway. You are running out of gears nevermind engine power.

Since it's not a Land Rover seat I guess you can put it just about anywhere. How are you going to fit a three point seat belt?

That's fair enough, the Britpart poly bushes came with the shocks. On the D2 the shocks and bushes are doing well after 4 years. The Britpart shocks lasted a couple of thousand miles on my 90! The bushes were fine though, make of that what you will.
