    Need some knowledge about FL1

You'll need to take the acoustic cover off the top of the engine (3 bolts) to see anything. The turbo is the turbo looking thing down the back of the engine - follow the exhaust ;) The EGR can be found by following the big induction hose from the intercooler to the top of the engine. It...

    Digital Clock Bulb Part Number

Yeh, it rings bells as 1 of those things that's ridiculously cheaper when its for the Rovers rather than Land Rovers - although may be a different colour. The aftermarket ones are cheap enough though.

Freelander 1 Skid Plate Bolt Sizes + Engine Compression

Was getting the golf clubs out of the garage tonight, and noticed the undertray, and acoustic cover, looking all lonely. Its their own fault, they've fallen out with the other 1...

    Digital Clock Bulb Part Number

Not very often a search gets absolutely no hits on a Google search, if fact, that may be the first.

That sounds like good value for a full set of hoses.

    VCU Torque test results

Wow - a 3rd member for the NZ national LZ meet up. We'll have to organise a bigger venue.

Is the broken case IRD still in a condition that you can turn the input shaft by hand and it will turn the rear pinion? If so, make 10 turns on the input shaft and count how many times the rear pinion turns. Then do the same with the TD4 IRD. The difference between a 4.2:1 and a 3:1 ratio...

    Drive shaft gaiter

Has it been broken for more than 5 miles? Probably. I'd be driving it, not very quickly, the 5 miles - but its you're call. Nice and clean under there. Looks in good nick other than the gaiter.

Freelander 1 2003 TD4 wheel bearings - ABS pick up

Well done for getting it sorted - well when the new new bearing arrives! Only thing I'd add is that a Google search is often better that a search within the forum. A few billion $ invested in the algorithms generally finds stuff better. Just add landyzone.co.uk and freelander in the search...

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

Those gear ratios, I'm sure, relate to the final drive ratio in the gearbox. The IRDs are the same. Look at the 2nd post in that thread. I think that inside those gearboxes, where a diff might go in a 2WD implementation, there is a final drive gearing bringing the output down to the speeds...

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

TBH, I extracted the IRD, bought a rebuild kit... and handed it over to a diff shop to do all the pulling and pushing of bearings. So, other than splitting the casing, I haven't experience of what's inside it. Are they different? Can't you just use the one off the TD4? I know mounting...

Freelander 1 Skid Plate Bolt Sizes + Engine Compression

I've found that the front bolts are the same as the ones that fit to the brackets by the wishbone. However, I may have mixed and matched with bolts from the parts car so shorter ones have ended up on the front.... cos they are a PITA to get in and out, so the shorter they are the better! They...

Freelander 1 Wattson: Freelander EV Project

Do you have a code reader to identify why they are on but not the ABS? May be related to a gearbox switch or summat that you'll have to replicate.

    Rear brakes TD4

I think you will find they are different to the 5 door built before 2000, and the 3 door. Same as a 5 door built 2000+ though.

Doesn't it need to move out when it engages or does the whole shaft move out?

TBH, those battery contacts are really tiny solders - you need a magnifying glass and a very steady hand to do it. I'd double check those solders, make sure they are good and not shorting anything. But @Alibro has the right 1st thing to try!

    Scored myself a new job

That camper has only just got back on the road and still isn't perfect. Was a great day in the office today... I'm not one who likes stopping much when I'm driving, like to get to where I'm going. But today I just had to stop and snap that pic. Unfortunately the crappy camera in my phone...

Is that cos this thread is so full of useful technical help with rust buckets? @blue beasty can you move @Stanleysteamer to a care home this thread to AG?
