FIXED IT FIXED IT FIXED IT. And about bloody time too. After changing fuel filter and lift pump, Yesterday my neighbour had sympathy on me and came over to help after messing around all day during which we removed sedimentor and bypassed with a length of clear pipe and some jubilee clips and...

Right, I switched the pipes about and she now runs at least but is still as bad as before. My sedimentor decided to spring a leak too so had to fix that at the same time. I tried manually bleeding and manually pumped for almost 20 minutes and nothing came out the bleed screw on the filter. I re...

Update guys, new lift pump is on and fitted and all went smoothly as far as that goes, now got a new problem she will sit there idling quite happy but when i try and rev her up she just dies off. There is no power there at all. On checkeing the old pump it seems to operate fine although being...

My new lift pump has just been delivered, GRRRRRR can't fit it yet though cos gotta go fetch my kids. On inspection there is a massive difference with the manual lever on the new one compared to the old one. Old one I operate the lever and it's very loose and stays in whatever position i leave...

Nope Taxed it's never ran on anything other than diesel. Any suggestions???? Is there anything other than the fuel system that could be at fault that i could check?????

have ordered a lift pump today and not gonna tinker till it arrives. If it cures the problem great and money saved if not it's expensive time and a diesel specialist to fix. Also have new seals for sedimentor which i will fit at the same time. Fingers crossed guys.

Update guys..... have just had the call from the garage and they clueless. to be honest i don't think they even looked at her. I gave them details of everything i had done so far and told them my suspicions. At 4pm they hadn't found time to look at her and now 5pm they say they can't find...

Update guys....... my fuel light has just come on (well on my way home from work the other night) so this morning i went to fill her up and she was a complete pig again. Kept stalling out at junctions and just ran really lumpy. I've come to the conclusion that the lift pump could be to blame and...

All i've done to increase the revs is tighten the trottle cable a little to hold the revs higher. I have since dropped it back as it was and during running seems to be fine although on the way to work today it had 1 minor hiccup and dropped the idle like it was about to stall but didn't. As...

alarm siren won't shut up !!

I had a similar issue last summer which materialised after i bought a trailer. It turned out to be a dodgy earth to my towing harness which for some reason was linked to the alrm by the fuse board. Not sure if that was a factory wire or after market bodge up but i rewired my tow hitch and it's...

Update time guys, right I started off my looking at the sender unit and finding the elbowas had seen better days so as a test i wrapped them up in electrical tape (may even cover with silicon as suggested), then i dropped the sedimentor and gave it a good clean before replacing. Right results...

Update guys, this morning I have peeled back all the flooring and had a look at the elbows on the sender unit. They have seen better days and to check if the problem is there I've taped them up to try and seal them a bit. If it does make a difference i'll buy a new one. Also i've cleaned out the...

I gather these elbows will still be there and potentially damaged though???? will be having a look anywaay as this is the only part of the system i haven't checked for leaks yet.

I've not had the sedimentor off yet, that is second on my list of things to check, first being the elbows coming off the tank pump.

thanks nicedayforit. I think ill swap my elimination order around and check the elbows before i have a crack at the sedimentor. If i have time i will do both but working late shift this week so one thing at a time. If i do find the elbows leak i think a temp fix of good old fashioned gaffer...

Graham Carter, Bessie (as my kids have named her) is usually parked with nose down hill as my house is on a sloped road. gR@HaM, I'm not 100% sure but it seems that way. I've bled the fuel filter a few times and when i changed it yesterday the old filter was almost empty. Something somewhere...
