    Smoking like a chimney

Well I've increased the boost via 2 full terns of the wastage adjustment rod. The sucking noise has gone and the little pig is so much more drivable, nice smooth gear changes and accelerating up to motorway speeds with little fuss from the engine and above all zero smoke. :p Yippee these TD4s...

    Smoking like a chimney

Turbo fitted today. Not sure if i need to increase boost slightly. the car runs great with no more smoke after the initial puff on start up clearing the system. took it for an Italian tune and floored it down the duel carriageway. The Landy pulls well in all gears and Hits 70 in good time with...

Well a bit of an update.... Injectors 1 and 3 removed cleaned and resealed with new washers as they were leaking and had a build up of black carbon around them. Then I tackled the turbo issue today. failed seals in the turbo meaning was pumping out oil into the intercooler. I have now removed...

Leaky TD4 fuel tank & plastic debris in the fuel tank & fuel content level

I have removed the carpet and the seal sits in the groove correctly. The pump sits in flush with the seal seated correctly yet I still get fuel seeping out. its bloody infuriating. I'm considering using some Hylomar Universal Blue to seal the thing up once and for all... o_O

Leaky TD4 fuel tank & plastic debris in the fuel tank & fuel content level

It would seem that the seal naturally fits in one way.. flat part to the top... I'm wondering if it should go the other way..

Leaky TD4 fuel tank & plastic debris in the fuel tank & fuel content level

Anything with this. Mine is leaking in the same way, from the white tabs .. Ho joy ..... New pump, new seal but still leaking. Especially on a fuller tank going around corners. You can see the fuel flow out from the tabs !!! I might just gasket them up. I'm not sure if these are part of the...

Well I've had a look under the car and there is oil around the pipes where the turbo is... ill git it up on ramps tomorrow and have a hood look for splits, make sure everything is tight and clean the area around the turbo up. I'll try to pinpoint the source of the oil.

    Smoking like a chimney

Evening all, I've bough myself a 52 plate Land Rover Freelander TD4 ES auto with 163 k miles on the clock. I got it real cheap as a bit of a project to bring back up to spec. When I bought it it was a s flat as a fart with no oomph whatsoever. Ok soooo I've done the following to the the...

Thanks for the input gents. I would really prefer the diesel engine to the petrol, for obvious reasons. This would be a gamble, once I start to throw money at it It will need to be a keeper. I feel I could be on borrowed time with the head gasket too. These are all things I need to weigh up...
