Thermostat seem to be OK as temp comes up as it should and has never gone into the red. Have ordered a new head gasket etc. As can't see what else could pressure the system as much.

Just wanted to see what cylinder was leaking as could be a cracked head/block and if the gasket was ok when head is removed it would narrow down the search of the problem. I have a leak down tested for petrol engines what do I need to attach it to the diesel head?

First Discovery I had was as V8, only problem I had with that was it used fuel as if there was a hole in the tank ;)

Looks like head gasket is away again as top hose is solid and rad cap is hissing. Before I take off the head is there a way of doing a leak down test on the individual cylinders?

Have you got the air out of the diesel lines by switching the ignition on and pump the throttle pedal to the floor more than 5 times in less than 10 secs, do this a few times. Also check the air bleed valve on the fuel filter as this sometimes gets blocked.

If it the pump it is not a big job. Take belt off, undo two pipes at the bottom unbolt pulley, unbolt four bolts holding pump on and its out.

Also retapped mine.

That it, the coolant pipe that comes out of the oil cooler round the back of the engine and in to the top small connector at the bottom of the rad. Is it meant to be blanked off??
