    Tips for replacing Oils

Sorry for the thread hijack. Why is this? Ive read it in a few places, does it fall apart internally?!

    Ashford/Kent independent dealer?

I'm in search of a replacement key & fob. How much are LR likely to want for it? I'm guessing I'll need to take my V5 and driving licence as proof of ID/Ownership?

    vibrations!

Seems a bit odd if yours, and the courtesy car both have the same 'fault'. Have you tried going out with the mechanic to demonstrate? I had to do with my MG ZR on a different clutch pedal related fault.

    More ebay shenanigans..

How much to buy it now? lol

    tax band

When I first started looking at Freelanders I did gulp a bit at the tax costs. But then I was paying £160 a year on a Fiat Cinquecento. So paying £215 for a car 3 times the size I wasnt too fussed. I may life to regret that in a few years mind you! :D

    tax band

Just taxed mine on Saturday. Deffo £215, unless the dude at the Post Office got it wrong :) EDIT - Auto TD's are Tax Band L. Parkers VED details: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/Summary.aspx?model=1164&page=3

    tax band

My Td4 is tax bank K. It was £215 this year. Next year it's £245. The £550 you say is only applicable to NEW cars registered that year. After that, they pay the standard rate. Strange as most place you buy a new car from come with 1 year RFL included. Wonder if dealers will pass that onto the...

    Brakes and Discs

Yes. Besacuse I'm that stupid. Given there's a mechanic on site I think I should be OK to keep said vehicle 'off the public highway' and not kill any kittens.

    Brakes and Discs

Yeah, got the CD cheers. I appreciate the serious tone. Luckily I have access to a runway I can test them on and come to a rolling stop should I cock it up! :D

    Brakes and Discs

OK... Let me put it another way... I'm quite happy bleeding and changing the fluid on my motorbike. Not really owned a car of my own to attempt 4 wheels. Perhaps I shoudl grab my mate to gimmie a hand.

    Brakes and Discs

Hi guys, I'm picking up my Freelander this weekend. Its coming with a full MOT but the brake discs will soon need to be replaced. I'm assuming it's wise to to the pads as well, but would it also be worthwhile changing the brake fluid? Is it something a competant home mechanic could do? Cheers!

    VCU, IRD, what the...?!

That's my thread hijacked! lol

    VCU, IRD, what the...?!

Damn it! I just knew I shouldn't have gone to my local dealer today! Whilst the FL2 is lush, it's seems HUGE compared to the FL1, also a little to 'bling'. Decided I'd be better off coughing up the extra couple of grand for a FL1 facelift and ensure I replace the VCU. I'm guessing as the...

    VCU, IRD, what the...?!

Ah cool. Thanks for that. Makes more sense. Looking at the threads I'm guessing the Td4 is the one to go for. Do the older diesels cause as much grief as the K series petrol engines? I'm wondering if I should spend a little less on the car and have some spare cash for the VCU and other 'niggles'.

    VCU, IRD, what the...?!

Hi, I've been on and off here for a while now. Was orignally looking at getting a Defender, but I just think its a little too impractical for me. ANyway, I'm looking at getting a Td4 Freelander, probably around the 2000 - 2002 age. I keep seeing posts about VCU failures and IRD's but dont...

    Off road 'experiences'

Cool! Thanks! :D When are you next there? I'll see if work will let me borrow the rescue truck, but I highly doubt it!!

    Off road 'experiences'

Well, if someone would be happy to take me for a ride, that would be great! I do have access to a Landy at work, but I dont think they'd be too chuffed, and I suspect it's not as capable with its 'modifications'...! :D

    Off road 'experiences'

Why is it Google never brings up the good stuff... Looks much better VFM than any I've seen so far. Thanks!

    Off road 'experiences'

Hi peeps, I've been trying to find somewhere that does off road experiences around the North Kent area. One that doesn't seem to be a rip off might be an advantage as well! Most I can find on the net are about £80 for a 20min drive. I'm really keen to get into 4x4 offroading (2 wheels I'm too...

    Howdy

If my habit of slinging my motorbike into muddy fields is anything to go by, I'm sure I'll do just fine! Don't worry about think skin, it's been down the tarmac enough to be used to anything!
