    Too good to be true?

Thanks for the honest reply. My wife is inclined to agree with that approach, as you can imagine. I may well hang on to the Disco V8 as a second car if I can get it through an MOT, just to keep a Landy in my life. Cheers

    Too good to be true?

Thanks for the info Spud. Are the P38's as unreliable as people say? I test drove a Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 Diesel Equippe which was fine but uninspiring (not to say boring) but did have reasonable performance. I'm past the stage of doing anything major myself. Any idea what it costs to...

    Too good to be true?

Hi Spud I agree the details look iffy. His feedback looks ok, and he's sold a landy before. I have a disco 1 v8 and need to replace it. I test drove a P38 diesel and was amazed at how gutless it was. I see you have a RR p38. Do you know how much difference the chipping makes? Regards Terry

    Too good to be true?

Hi all Anyone else watching the Rangie in Fleabay, an '02 L338 DHSE at £8250 and no bids? Highish miles but not star trek stuff. It's had Cat C repairs but looks v clean and tidy. It's item 260607225815. Cheers

    Disco coolant reservoir..

Anyone know where I can get coolant reservoir for a 98 Disco V8 (apparently it's the same on a diesel). I'm in Eastbourne and transportless. All Terrain don't have one, neither do Caffyns. Are there any breakers in this area. Cheers TerryM

    Can't decide disco/p38

Thanks again for the suggestions. Wasn't there a limited edition 110 as well in Cream and green with an auto option? The list of problems is leaning me towards the Disco td5 but the prices seem to have crept up lately and a 2002/3 with halfway sensible mileage is getting up to silly money...

Thanks for the pointer to South Coast Garages, I'll give them a try. Cheers Terry

    Can't decide disco/p38

Thanks again for the opinions The Defender/110 option is ruled out by the lack of an Auto. I have seen auto conversions but that seems to substantially hike the price. I do like the JE Engineering special with the 4.4 v8. £60k anyone? Still pondering and looking Cheers

    Can't decide disco/p38

Thanks for all the opinions. I've driven the TD5, on and off road and it's much better than the Disco 1, but I'll have to try the P38. One problem is availability down here on the coast, guess I'll have to keep trawling ebay and autotrader. The 110 idea is okay apart from the lack of an auto...

    Can't decide disco/p38

Hi Chaps My trusty R reg Disco 1 V8 ES has finally given up the ghost and will be sold for spares soon so I need to replace it.Cats gone, heads gone exhaust gone, body sound. I've had RR Classics and this Disco and am struggling to decide on a replacement. the choice is between a P38 DSE...

    Water pouring out!

Help! Just got back from and found water coming from what seems to be the bottom hose connection to the block, totally inaccessible. Can anyone advise whether it means taking the rad out to get at it and where I might get a new hose in Eastbourne today as I happen to have a day off today...

    Can't stand no more

Er um thanks for the suggestions chaps. It's not lpg. I don't do much mileage, I use the disco for the seven seats and to tow our caravan. I may try the ****ting method then the straight through pipe idea. I will keep you in touch with the results Cheers Terry

    Can't stand no more

Hi all I've got a 3.9 disco 1 and the cats have gone making a very unpleasant din. For various reasons the car won't pass another MOT and it's got body damage so when the current ticket expires in 6 months it'll probably be scrapped. In the meantime is there a cheap solution to the 'orrible...

Ball bearings in a metal bucket

Hi All Took the car to local Land Rover Indy specialist. Verdict is that the cats are gone, probably as a result of the persistent misfire allowing fuel to reach burn in the cats. Any way the heads are also gone so given that the car has 6 months MOT left and the noise won't get any worse...

Ball bearings in a metal bucket

Thanks for that, I'll try it today. Cheers

Ball bearings in a metal bucket

Any ideas please!! I've finally got my ignition sorted on my V8 3.9, had been misfiring and running rough. Took the disco to France for a family holiday and for the last couple of days there has been this horrendous noise which sounds like it's coming from underneath. It's just as bad at...

    Disco dog guard

Thanks for all the info chaps, I now understand what needs to be done. The rubber insert jobs look like they would work but might not give a very rigid mounting! I might now be able to borrow the right tool and do it right. Thanks very much to all who took the trouble to reply. Terry

    Disco dog guard

I've searched and there doesn't seem to be a thread on this. I've got a disco 1 v8. I've got a dog guard (2nd hand but pukka LR item) and a new genuine LR fitting kit. It now seems I need a special tool to fit the brackets to the sides. I know I should have checked before but my last car (RR...

    "Shopping Trolley Syndrome"

The advice not to spend on this is sound. I had a 4 yr old range rover some years back that did this and I spent over a grand trying to rectify the problem and it never completely disappeared. Sorry not to be more optimistic but I did all the things mentioned here, to no avail

    A non starting V8 disco.Ideas please!!!

Thanks to everyone for the ideas. I tested the resisitances through the primary and secondary windings and they were correct as was the voltage on either side. Nevertheless I tried a new coil and bingo! started on the button! Again thanks for the ideas, Cheers Terry
