Hi Spud I agree the details look iffy. His feedback looks ok, and he's sold a landy before. I have a disco 1 v8 and need to replace it. I test drove a P38 diesel and was amazed at how gutless it was. I see you have a RR p38. Do you know how much difference the chipping makes? Regards Terry

Anyone know where I can get coolant reservoir for a 98 Disco V8 (apparently it's the same on a diesel). I'm in Eastbourne and transportless. All Terrain don't have one, neither do Caffyns. Are there any breakers in this area. Cheers TerryM

Thanks again for the suggestions. Wasn't there a limited edition 110 as well in Cream and green with an auto option? The list of problems is leaning me towards the Disco td5 but the prices seem to have crept up lately and a 2002/3 with halfway sensible mileage is getting up to silly money...

Hi All Took the car to local Land Rover Indy specialist. Verdict is that the cats are gone, probably as a result of the persistent misfire allowing fuel to reach burn in the cats. Any way the heads are also gone so given that the car has 6 months MOT left and the noise won't get any worse...

The advice not to spend on this is sound. I had a 4 yr old range rover some years back that did this and I spent over a grand trying to rectify the problem and it never completely disappeared. Sorry not to be more optimistic but I did all the things mentioned here, to no avail

Thanks to everyone for the ideas. I tested the resisitances through the primary and secondary windings and they were correct as was the voltage on either side. Nevertheless I tried a new coil and bingo! started on the button! Again thanks for the ideas, Cheers Terry
