Mine was doing this every now and then. Seems to have been ok since replacing the heater matrix!

Yes it's forward facing. I'm reliably informed that it's a Britax Eclipse Si. Not sure about the Si bit......

Considering I was quoted £300 for a heater matrix to be replaced I'd say £1100 is pretty reasonable for a gearbox. Anyone else?

We use a standard Britax in ours that fits to the 3 point belt. Fits fine and is very stable with belt pulled tight.

And make sure that the offending vehicle actually hits it rather than going to one side of it as they did with mine!

'96 Disco 300 Tdi with 123k on the clock. I get about 28mpg in everyday use and have had as much as 34mpg on a long run with quite a bit of high speed motorway use. Driven carefully I can get just over 32mpg in daily use.

Oh well, good news, it's being repaired. Plus points are that I'm getting a new spare tyre and a complete tailgate as the old one was twisted. A bit of a result as the tailgate was the only bit of the car with bad corrosion :)

I had only just fitted that a couple of weeks ago. Found it at a car boot for £4. Now it has a huge rip in it. Bet they can't find one like that to replace it with.

Pain in the neck!! Literally........ Took her in today for further investigation / repair. Hopefully they will repair and not write-off :( Now I have to drive around in a brand new VW Passat TDI. Yuk.

Sounds pretty good to me! I paid £3800 for my '96 Tdi XS last January from a car dealer. Mind you, I haven't seen another one that cheap since.

I repaired mine with a tube of black silicone sealant. Smoothed it with a wet finger before it dried and it looks fine. Much cheaper than mucking around replacing them and probably less likely to leak afterwards!!

I do want to but mine seems it doesn't want to go! A friend who had asked to be given 1st refusal on it was due to come over this weekend but the Disco has other ideas and has decided to create it's own on-board sauna by blowing a hole in it's heater matrix. Another friend who is my local Landy...

What's to do.... I have my '96 Tdi XS and have seen a rather nice '00 Td5 Millenium Edition for sale. I'm very tempted to change, but what is the common opinion here? Is the Td5 a better car or is the seemingly more rugged and simple 300 Tdi the one to keep..... Decisions, decision! :rolleyes:
