Car wheels on Defender to reduce height - to get in a garage

ok cheers chaps, I might try the steels with no tyres option. I shall get getting a new set of tyres and rims soon, so will cut the illegal tyres of my current steels.

Car wheels on Defender to reduce height - to get in a garage

I'm looking to get the Defender into my garage. It's too tall with the OE wheels on, so was wondering if there is a possibility of finding cheap car steels and tyres with matching PCD that I can put on to reduce the height. The other option would be to deflate the tyres significantly, but that...

    Common Bolt/Nut and Washers Guide

I'm just interested in the genuinely important ones. Being new to Landy's I'm not sure which are important yet. Just don't want to be stuck

    Common Bolt/Nut and Washers Guide

Is there any guides online that help with part numbers or specifications of the bolts and washers. For example, i'm aboiut to replace the exhaust, I can see people selling the olives, but not clamps, bolts/nuuts. Same for cleaning out the breater, there's a washer that should be replaced, but...

    Project 90 300TDI shi**er

Ok cool, the Peugeot ones I'm familiar with were a bugger to weld. I shall get it off when I do the gasket, and if it's cracked I shall leave it off, so it can be welded at the same time as the chassis, or I find a local guy before hand. I paid £3.5k, it's a 1998 300TDI on 140k miles, 1...

    Project 90 300TDI shi**er

I've been reading Buster's very helpful guides. As the manifold (or gasket) is blowing, might as well replace the entire exhaust for a decat system at the same time, as the cat is blowing too apparently. I haven't seen too many exhaust manifolds for sale for the 300TDI...hope it isn't cracked...

    Project 90 300TDI shi**er

Well I bought the Landy cheap knowing it needed a lot of TLC, this is a thread documenting the transformation from ****ter to respectable and reliable off-road Landy. Firstup, I stumbled across a 'how to' on this forum on how to resolve the squeeking, very hand tip indeed! With absolutely...

Set of Wheels/Tyres or Just Tyres

More research suggests a 7j rim width with an 265/75/r16 all terrain tyre would suit.

Sussex - Look over my Defender chassis

Fair play to Jan. One hour after emailing him the scans of the MOT and pictures, he gave me the option of a full refund. Subsequently we agreed on a contribution towards the repairs. I still think at £3.5k for a 1998 300TDI it's good value.

Sussex - Look over my Defender chassis

Yeah i'm not expecting too many years out of this chassis, so i'll start saving indeed. Hopefully I can get 2 years or so out of it.

Set of Wheels/Tyres or Just Tyres

I have the standard steel rims at the moment. Either looking for some legal tyres for them, or a cheap upgrade set of wheels and tyres such as Modulars etc, as eventually want something more suitable for light off roading. Cheers Sean

Sussex - Look over my Defender chassis

Thanks guys, excellent advice, I will get the rest of the MOT issues and advisories sorted, then clean up and treat the metal bits of the chassis, finally ready for a bit of fabrication.

Sussex - Look over my Defender chassis

Yes I was the one that bought it from ebay from Jan, and can confirm it was descried verbally as having a solid chassis that just needed wire brushing and coating. At this point in time I am sure Jan will be as surprised as I am, and will act in a responsible and professional manner when I...
