main thing i need to understand is did they use the 300 tdi chassis or v8 chassis?

im not concerned towing ability or mpg, my defender is more of a weekend toy and does about 3000 miles per year. More interested to know about things like engine mounts and whats needed to fit.

i used black sealant on mine in lieu of the gasket. could be the t-seals which is an easy enough job if you've got access to an engine stand and have the engine out already.

yeah, ive even tried cycling the ignition 3 or 4 times before attempting to start but makes no difference.

about a week ago i managed to run out of fuel in the defender and ever since then i have been having a lot of trouble getting the engine to start from cold. normally it would come to life with the briefest of turns on the starter but now its a good 10 to 15 seconds on the starter and pumping...

No probs, i always keep a spare filter in my dash incase it happens when im far from home.

It will be the fuel filter, mine did exactly the same after i had run the tank low on fuel. Must have picked a load of crap up from the bottom of the tank and clogged the filter. Ran perfectly once changed.

id advise you to go the engine out route. it requires removing quite a few items but they are all simple to do.

I think if you replate, it would have to be one of the two original weights land rover published for the 110. so to get it as class 4 it would be 2950kg.

i went for a terrafirma (60mm) one in the end from total parts. it arrived yesterday so hopefully i will be able to fit it at the weekend.

Was it the same bore as original? They list pretty much everything except a 300tdi 110 :(

As title, my silencer on the centre section is blowing. i would like to replace it with a straight through section and preferably in stainless. i have seen this on ebay and would like to know if anyone on here has bought one and have opinions on it or recommendations for an alternative?

no, i used sealant instead of the gasket which is what turners advised. still have the gasket which came with my gasket set.

Yeah, oil was coming out of the bell housing plug hole and there was a stream of oil on the front of the bell housing which suggested a sump leak as well.
