Is the circlip visible or inside the MS ? I've had look under the dash (need to be contortionist) and the main spring is fine but I cannot see where the circlip would be. The clutch is performing fine so I'm tempted to leave it for now.

I don't know what the plug is but my wipers failed a few weeks ago and found that the nut holding the wiper arm onto the spindle needed nipping up, the spindle was moving but the arm slipping.

quick squirt of PlusGas, 30 mins tea break and try again. Sorted rusty screws on my 42 yo MGB.

Update : Checked voltage and I'm getting 14v at the screen terminal. I then checked each filament and I have 4 that appear to have a break in them (voltage above and nothing below). They are not really breaks but look worn so I'm guessing they rub as the window goes up and down. I'll try some...

Easy fix in the end. The wiper arms were slipping on their spindles so tightened them up and took the opportunity of lubricating all the linkages.

Would a continuity test work on the element using a multimeter ?

Checked the contacts on the glass and they are good and checked the wiring to the point it goes into the car body. Fuse is good and the switch appears to be ok. Just stuck on which relay to check and I'm new to Freelanders so how do I check the control unit ?
