Another newbie question I'm afraid. Went to the 55 plate this morning to try it for the first time in snow and turned the engine on to warm up while i cleared the snow from the windscreen. I should have checked but the wipers were on intermittent and obviously tried to sweep but couldn't due to the weight of snow. Now when I try to use them they just twitch and do not move. Is there a linkage that may have come loose or could the motor be burnt out.

Fantastic in the snow though !

did that my self I know it is stupid to turn the wipers on when they are either covered in snow or stuck to the windscreen , first job I always do now is clear the windscreen and pull the wipers of the window to make sure they are free. new motor will do it good

Easy fix in the end. The wiper arms were slipping on their spindles so tightened them up and took the opportunity of lubricating all the linkages.

i done the same when the screen was icy and the wipers were stuck

burnt the motor out, bought a second hand one and not to bad to replace, hardest bit was getting the plastic screws out

the easy way of getting those plastic screws out of the scuttle panel is to get either a very thin screw driver and shove the middle down and when you have done all on them you can pull the outer part out and then collect the middle bits after taking the scuttle panel off simples

funny enough I used a small screw and like u say simples once u get the first one out

You can also buy ball joint repair clips rather than a new linkage, the ball joint had worn on my linkage and kept popping out, bought the clip off ebay for a few pounds.
