    VCU Torque test results

The prop shouldn't be in a straight line, you cannot run/design a prop without the uj's having an angle otherwise it caus3d massive vibrations.

    Heldex unit on Freelander

lol, thats not exactly a FL2 diff. I don't call machining up housings, bearings, shafts a simple job for 99.9% of the population. Even if that is simple for you it still not worth the effort or cost ;-).

    Heldex unit on Freelander

Lol, have you ever even looked underneath a car?? I build several of these diffs a week I know how they work. If you want to a fit a FL 2 haldex to a FL1 go ahead, please take some photos as you do it so we can see the simple task pmsl!!

    Heldex unit on Freelander

???? The freelander 2 haldex is part of a the diff, so it's not a simple task

TD4 Poor starting, hot or cold

sounds like a camshaft sensor, when fooked happens hot or cold

    Heldex unit on Freelander

its a non starter, the haldex is built into the rear diff so cant just use it on a FL1 in replacement of VCU. Maybe you could try and fit a FL2 diff to a FL1 but it would require custom rear subframe and then there would be ratio differences. Even if you overcame the physical installation...

Cherokee wheels on an early td4?

Just fitted 225/75/15 steels from a 1995 cherokee, fit fine (needed 5mm spacers at back to fit the drums. Offset is less that FL so spaces wheels out nicely

Help! with freelander mark 1 Auto TD$, poss gear problem...

Gas smell is caused by rear diff overheating and cooking the oil. The burnt oil smells like gas. Overheating is caused by mismatched tyred and/or tight vcu. Very common when garages put new front tyres on to sell a car

    Freelander 2 rear diff problems

These are for freelander 1 only. And they are just the LSD internals. We run them in some kit/race cars. Work very well

    Freelander 2 rear diff problems

Landrover say the pinion bearing damage is attributed to the way in which the coupling applies torque when moving away from standstill or during slow-speed manoeuvring, the reflash changes this. Personally i don't see this as being the main issue, the problem is the bearing is simply too small...

    Freelander 2 rear diff problems

Haldex 4 was fitted from 09 onwards, seems that these are failing earlier than the 07-08s with the mechanical Haldex 3 units. Just had 2 in this weekend, 10 plates both done mid 30k and diffs Gone. Previous one in was an 07 with 110k on the clock. You can get the Haldex 4 reflashed which...

td4 faulty camshaft sensor i think!

Just sorted my td4 out, was a bastard to start, would fire initially then would not start. Occasionally it would start and then ran perfect. Diagnostics showed up manic cam sensor readings, 2nd hand sensor for £15 runs a treat. Same sensor as lots of bmw and rover 75s

    Td4 auto no drive whatsoever??

Cheers hippo. I don't pretend to know anything about autos, not my bag at all. It's a car I bought for myself with a fecked IRD according to the bloke selling it. I wanted to just put a new ird in and drive it through the winter, wasn't expecting other hidden gems. The ird is in so next port of...
