Freelander 1 TD4 Freestyle 2006: fit steering wheel with audio controls

I've got to ask again, has anyone else had a problem with the steering controls. If not, apart from buying another wheel, where would I go to have it fixed. The problem is that the volume control turns up the sound but when you try to turn it down strange things happen that have nothing to do...

    Where to source silicon grease?

Something to consider if the worst came to the worst. Although I think the prices of the V6 would go up some. :)

Freelander 1 MAF'less Remap? Ronbox or one of the many alternatives

There is another that's cheaper but the wires have been cut. Although that should be fixable.

It has 2 on it, I know that seems obvious but shouldn't it have 2 a if it was that? Bargain though, at £62.

    Where to source silicon grease?

    I need an Auto, & I don't fancy the V6's fuel bills.

    Where to source silicon grease?

    I've just acquired my TD4, I love it, & I'm keeping it. :mad::mad:

    Where to source silicon grease?

I'm off to the plumbers, sod the coppaslip. :D :( If that doesn't work I'll bite the bullet and take the seal off, clean everything, and replace with a bead of silicone behind. My old Grandad used to say, " always try the simple things first" I'm sure he thought I was.

    Where to source silicon grease?

It was recommended on another thread. I think the suggestion was that it would "enliven" (my word) the rubber seal, & may be an alternative to buying a new rubber seal at around £150.

Just out of interest, would coppaslip do the trick?

Freelander 1 MAF'less Remap? Ronbox or one of the many alternatives

I think the Ronbox can be used in other makes of car. I may be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that if you change your car, for a fee they will reset it for you.

Freelander 1 MAF'less Remap? Ronbox or one of the many alternatives

But has anyone tried them? If you try TDI Tuning's site they want £250 or £330. By the way, when I look for items for my beast, I am given a choice of two TD4's, 109 bhp & 112bhp. How do I find which is mine, please?

As Ali mentioned, are the other tuning boxes a worthwhile option? Has anyone tried the alternatives to the Ronbox?

Freelander 1 TD4 Freestyle 2006: fit steering wheel with audio controls

I think that they are fitting all those widgets. I've paid £160 for a Kenwood BT302 Bluetooth/Ipod/USB Receiver, fitted, allowing me to use the controls. Yes, we still have the old Philips Radio Cassette. That's what the old chap ( Ha, old chap, probably only a couple of years on me ) was...

Freelander 1 TD4 Freestyle 2006: fit steering wheel with audio controls

Sorry to resurrect this but, I took my 2001 TD4 GS that had the 770 radio cassette unit fitted to a car audio specialist. Had a Kenwood Bluetooth radio fitted. He had to order the patch lead as they cannot be bought from the likes of halfraud. Anyway, he spent two hours fitting it all and told...

Freelander 1 water in boot in jack storage area.

Is it as simple as taking off the seal, a bead of silicone inside the full length, and reffitting? If so, is there a particular silicone I should use? Thanks again.
