Stopover, I disconnected the maf and the excessive revs and spluttering on kickdown disappeared. Plus the normal driving became smooth again.

All, I have just discovered my MAF sensor is faulty. So, I need to replace it. On Island4x4 there are three choices for my car (2000 4.6 Vogue) 1) Allmakes at £35 2) Britpart at £33 3) Bosch at £99 The faulty one is a Bosch. Now, the question is which one should I go for...

Whilst replacing the alternator on mine, noticed the serpentine belt was looking cracked. Fitted the new one in less than ten minutes!!!

The replacement alternator arrived yesterday and fitted it today. What a bugger of a time we had getting the belt back on, but once we'd worked out what we actually needed to do it was straightforward. Battery immediately being charged at 14 + volts and all alarms cleared. I'm quite pleased...

Battery only taking a charge of just under 10 volts. Alternator seems to be the culprit Emmotts here I come!!

Just dug out my multi meter and checked the battery voltage - 11.96. So, it's either the battery or the alternator. Got a mate coming over in a while with a booster pack to start the car. Once started we'll see what the alternator is throwing out.

Looking at the pics it was a shame you weren't able to change the tyres round without damaging the paint on the wheels.
