    SRS ECU replacement

By way of update: I've taken the fascia out and removed the heater unit to access the SRS ECU. It seems that the ECU takes its earth locally rather than through the loom, but the contact looks a little tarnished. Could it be possible that a poor earth here could be causing the intermittent SRS...

    SRS ECU replacement

Thanks - that's really helpful. First thing I'll try is another ECU. The garage report simply stated that the ECU had an "internal fault". I suppose that a loose connection to it could generate this sort of failure report on the testbook used by the garage?

    SRS ECU replacement

Can anyone help with this one? I doubt I'm alone in suffering SRS ECU problems. Or do people generally just pay Land Rover for a new unit?

    Freelander TD4 Auto Jatco fluid

I've read as much as I can about this. It seems that the issue is mixing different oils. When auto boxes are rebuilt (and hence fully drained), they seem to run happily on ATF, but please correct me if that's wrong. The problem seems to be that it isn't possible to fully drain the box, so when...

Hi all, thank you for all the helpful threads - this site's a goldmine of information. I have a 2001 v6 Freelander 1. The SRS warning light comes on sometimes (other times it goes out after a few seconds and stays off). I have soldered the underseat connectors following advice here, but that...

    Coolant expansion tank

Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm glad other people can see coolant running into the expansion tank when the engine is shut off. Very reassuring and good to know it's not just mine doing it!

    Coolant expansion tank

Hi all, I've just bought a 2001 Freelander 2.5 v6. Very pleased with it. I have noticed that when you shut the engine off, quite a lot of fluid drains into the coolant expansion tank (from halfway between min and max to over the max line). Is this normal? The engine doesn't appear to...
