havnt really had a chance to do anything with the rangie, theres been a lot of other things going on in my world lately. i guess the first thing to do would be to check connections and fuses in the abs unit and check the sensors at each wheel. where will i find the fuses for the ABS, and...

Hi, sorry for the late reply, its just been one of those weeks and i havnt checked the forum for a while. yeah the range is still out of action due to the brakes playing up and it would be really good if you could possibly point me in the right direction. did you see the thread i started about...

    How to identify whining?

:D:D ahahahahaha but seriously.. you can tell something about whining noises by what conditions the car is under when it happens, eg power on, overrun, coasting etc and you can sometimes hear whether its coming from the front or back of the car. a lot of it is guess work though

    RRC brake failure

well, i am no longer insured to drive my range rover =( at least driving my little french boring mobile will free up some money so i can throw some at the rangie =/

    RRC brake failure

thankfully i live in the middle of nowhere with off road parking so we dont have the problem of little ****s nicking off with car parts :)

can an high milage v8 be reliable

define reliable? :P my 20 year old 140K miler has a rough idle, cuts out occasionaly when you put it in gear and gets through oil and coolant like nobodies business... however the only time its cut out or refused to start was caused by a dodgy connection to the ignition coil, and the rest of...

    RRC brake failure

yeah i sent a PM, though i really need a car asap so will have to start using my other car again anyway. the plus side to all this is that the 106 will cost about a quarter of what it costs to run the range rover, so with all that spare money i can start doing all the little things that need...

    RRC brake failure

    RRC brake failure

yeah i realise that the light is on because the ABS is ****ed, i was just kind of hoping someone else may have had this problem before and be able to tell me exactly whats wrong, how to fix it, and that it wont cost more than about 34p (for that is my entire worldly wealth at the moment...) to...

    RRC brake failure

oh right, is there no light specifically for the ABS system? every other ABS equipped car ive had has had abn ABS warning light come on with the ignition then go out after the engine has been running a few seconds. what do all the lights that you get look like? EDIT: just been out to have...

    RRC brake failure

mines a 1990 Vogue SE. the only lights i have when the ignition is on are the battery light, engine oil light, and the parking brake light (this never goes out, dodgy sensor i think) and the pad wear light (im assming thats what it is) only comes on when you crank it, then goes out as soon as...

    RRC brake failure

actually thinking about it there is a light that comes on when i crank the engine then goes out again when it fires (doesnt come on with the ignition though, only when i actually crank it); its an orange one showing a circle surrounded by another ring of dashes, which i guess would be pad wear...

    RRC brake failure

excellent... how worried should i be about using my car? =/

    RRC brake failure

yeah that looks like a pretty good investment. im not sure whether to chance it with driving the car now, because it didnt come up with any warning lights when the brakes failed this time, im slightly concerned that they could fail again without warning. i was just lucky that i was travelling...

    RRC brake failure

thanks for the replies, but it seems to have started working again =/ seems its doing what late 80's and early 90's british cars are best at... intermittent electrical faults... if (when) it fails again i will try what you said above and hopefully find the source of the problem. thanks again, Tom

    Whos running on just petrol??

my 3.9 range is getting around 16mpg average which is a bit poor as most of my time is spend on A roads just trundling along, although i do live in the bottom of a valley so every time i use it i have to make the old girl climb up out of the valley before she gets a chance to fully warm up :(

    RRC brake failure

i measured it at the plug right next to the pump itself under the bonnet (the power leads that is, not the multiplug that plugs directly into the pump unit) and oddly i didnt get any warning lights at all on the dash =/
