Defender 200 quick heater box question

Thanks for that, cables should be easy to work on as they are not connected in the cab so just got to ensure they are set right on the box.

Defender 200 quick heater box question

Out of interest what did you use to partition yours? Was thinking of a sheet of ply fixed behind the bulkhead

Defender 200 quick heater box question

That was my intention for the winter, to be honest in doesn't get too cold through our winters so I'm not overly bothered about getting it really hot. I have never looked at the heater system up till now so just fancied giving it a flush and clean out to see if it makes much difference. If not I...

Defender 200 quick heater box question

fancy having a clean out of the heater to try coax a little bit of heat out. I have read busters how to remove the box guide, seems fairly straight forward, however my question is. If I get the box off this morning to clean but then run out of time to finish the job, can I still use it tomorrow...

Think I might have broken it!! Engine rattle

Big sighs of relief!! Just been down to have a better look over the engine to check for any obvious problems and I found the offending part. Bloody down pipe had come loose!! Well that explains the blowing noise and the rattle I'm thinking most if not all the oil could have been a sloppy pourer...

Think I might have broken it!! Engine rattle

Will go check all of the above cap seemed fine when I first got to work and stuck my head under. The filter would be my guess old one was a real pain in the arse to remove, new one seemed to go on fine but I will re-check it at lunchtime if I can be cheeky and use a ramp

Think I might have broken it!! Engine rattle

1991 Defender 90 200tdi yesterday I decided after all the tricky jobs I have carried out I would do the nice simple one and change the oil, so drained the old stuff removed the filter and changed then re-filled with new oil. That all went well. However on my drive in this morning it didn't quiet...

Defender rear diff oil seal replaced but still leaking

Ok so I think I got to the bottom of the problem, the original seal I had fitted was not what I had asked for 8220 but rather the 4586 below is the remains of the one fitted which failed. So to try and avoid another mistake I took myself down to Landrover this morning and purchased the correct...

Defender rear diff oil seal replaced but still leaking

Finally got chance to take the prop off today and as normal James you were bang on the money, the garter spring has come loose once I had removed the prop I can feel part of the spring at the top. I'm assuming it's probably not worth me trying again with the same seal and spring? Without...

Defender rear diff oil seal replaced but still leaking

It was the 8220, I used some grease to fit then tapped round the edge until it was flush. Seems to be a fair amount leaking which made me think it was more my error than inferior parts, going to double check the breather again but it's pretty much brand new

Defender rear diff oil seal replaced but still leaking

Thanks James should the outer edge of the seal be level with the casing? I will have some time later so will pop the prop off and have a look. Just need to find a clean container for the fluid don't want to be buying more fluid!!

Defender rear diff oil seal replaced but still leaking

I was careful when I fitted, the old one was flush with the top which I tried to match as best I could, however that one was leaking so maybe not the best one to copy!! New one was sent as part of a kit I think individually it was cheap £2/3 so wouldn't be surprised if it's the problem. The...

Defender rear diff oil seal replaced but still leaking

Yes I checked that as I had replaced it fairly recently, my only question (and it's possibly a silly one!) It's the first time I have fitted a banjo bolt, I had originally just tightend up, however when I looked at it this time it occurred to me that maybe I should have lined up the holes, which...

Defender rear diff oil seal replaced but still leaking

i replaced my rear diff oil seal and fitted a new flange, following one of the guides on here, since then I have driven a few miles and at first all was fine, however now I have used it a bit more it appears to be leaking again. So what could I have done wrong my thoughts are as follows : the...
