I'll try resetting the tappets this afternoon, I didn't fit the two washer for the injectors, just one copper one, which was all that was in them to begin with.

took the shed out for a quick drive just now, smoke has cleared up a little bit, but i seem to be suffering from a lack of power, possibly take the air filter off and check without? seems to have no trouble when out of gear revving up, just transferring the power when driving

Hi guys, have started a few threads already with regards to get my shed back running again, after i changed the head gasket, but thats sorted now. I removed the head gasket, replaced the water pump and thermostat to solve an overheating problem, hoping it would be the cause of the white smoke...

Had a quick look at the pump and I think it's been advanced as far as it can already, out of ideas :/

Also, smoke was White and billowed, and stanknof diesel, so assuming thts the timing

Good news...it started! :) just gave a good long blast with the gas and it idled, though I think i had the inlet manifold piped up wrong, is the top nozzle (above where the air take, from the air filter) meant to connect to the vacuum pump or the breather cap? Lots of smoke and the exaust...

I will be trying again tonight, and making a video if i'm still haveing problems. is it possible i could have messed with the timing? I've only moved the cam to do the tappets and not removed the dist pump, but did remove the injectors and turned the cam clockwise and anti-clockwise trying to...

Just removed head and replaced gasket, no timing chain, but have moved crank for tappets

Rebuilt my s3 2.25 diesel at the weekend, engine starts and runs with foot down on throttle, but cuts out when lifted off, think the timing is the problem but I don't know what I'm doing to set it, is it a big job? What tools will I need? Can it be fixed without going to a garage? Any help...

after reading up a little more online, i think what has happened is that i have started it up with air in the system, the first time around i didnt prime the system at all, but i did bleed the distributor before starting the second time. i dont know how to prime the rest of the system and...

that seems pretty involved, and i think ill have to look into it a bit more before i attempt to do the job, or find a guide online somewhere to do it, im already sick of that f**king haynes manual, i mite as well have a bloke standing over me saying "take that bit off".

the smoke is white, and hangs about when i stop, and smells of diesel, so is probably unburnt fuel. is it hard to change the timing? and getting the injectors looked at, is it easier to get them fixed or replaced?
