So far I have checked the IRD, dropped the oil, i am about to give it a bit of a clean (IRD no oil haha) then refil) Did make the fatal mistake of removing the filler plug while the car was on an angle and up on the ramps - and ended up covered in oil haha

This is the oil I have taken out - so feeling farily happy. Mind you, I did remove the filler one and get covered in oil, forgot that the bloody car was on an angle so ended up with oil all over me haha. Will lower it down slowly to refil.

Little bit of play when I rotate it - not much though. Nothing when I pull or push and tiniest bit of movement when I move up and down or left and right - so little that you can hardly tell. Going to finish my cuppa, take the under body tray thing off and get the oil dropped in it. I take it...

Was just reading the thread and was going to post check the map / maf - I had exactly the same problem on an alfa 156 I had and I know what you mean about the revs - the only way I could describe it was it farted its way up the rev counter haha Pleased its sorted though buddy.

I had this on a previous one and it was the low pressure pump. Once started it ran great - just the actual starting bit that was the problem. Can you hear the pump priming or anything? As said though, dont take my word for it and buy the part - I am not a mechanic haha

Which fuel pump did you change? low pressure or high pressure? can you hear the pump when you turn the key, but before starting the engine?

Yesterday I wrapped duct tape around the hose going to the EGR to cover a canny split in it - this weekend I will be putting new silicone hoses on haha

Found the hole - hose to the EGR valve had a split in it big enough to put my finger in! Ordered a new set of silicone hoses and wrapped the current one up with duct tape until they arrive. I had parked this up and switched to the Astra until I got this one sorted, but a bloody brakepad...

To be honest I was about to order new hoses before I got this proplem, I might just do that anyway before I look at anything else

Freelander has been running great, until Saturday - I have suddenly developed a flat spot starts at 2000 revs up until about 2800 then pulls again. going to try replacing the fuel filter this week to see if that sorts it Has anyone seen anything like this?

yeah, have ordered a stud extractor to see if I can get this remaining bit out. Like the look of those irwin sockets though - might have to get a set ordered.

Yeah, there is talk about doing it here in newcastle as well - have to say that if it happens I will be selling up and buying a small, compliant run around... Selling my astra that is - no way I am getting rid of my freelander :)
