Ah that almost makes sense now, there is only 1 toll road in the uk and that is the M6toll and they base their charges on the height of the vehicle at the first axle but you still shouldn't pay a higher fee as the spare wheel is classed as an external load and not part of the vehicle.

I'd get the engine changed now. A 200/300 engine will make it a pleasure to drive rather than the chore of the 2.5 n/a.
