Worn tensioners? Is there any play in the bearings?

I took mine off (1996 Disco XS), because i didn't like them. I found nothing of major concern, just years worth of gunk and crud. I spent an afternoon washing the area, then rubbing it down a little and applying some white Hammorite to where the plastic guards would be. This looked crap...

Should be a small black box IIRC. About 10cm / 4 inch square? When I did mine I used the link that Discool posted, and found it no problem. As others have said, maybe yours has been removed in the past, or never even fitted?

What he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^ If your going to do a job, do it properly. Pop riviting is just a bodge. Why not secure your exhaust with cable ties as well whilst your at (IMHO).

inlet / exhaust manifold gasket? Although Id have thought that would have been more likely under load than off it.

It was about three years ago that I did mine. I got a full set either from Paddocks or my local LR main dealer, (sorry, I cant remember which one). If my memory serves me correctly, (and it doesn't always), they were about half the price you quoted, maybe a little less?

I thought mine looked crap, so cut the buggers off....... I then decieded that I didn't like it without the plastic mouldings, so went out and bought a new set. Oh well, at least my plastic mouldings look like new again, (er, because they are). The good news is that they are pretty cheap...

I had Allard custom make an alloy header tank for my Disco. Whilst the quality of the work was first class, the price was a little steep IMO. Am I correct in thinking that Allard and Alisport are the same firm? BoB, you mention that you are working on a twin intercooler setup at the moment...

I fitted a Safari snorkel to mine 96 300 TDi. Grille at the top of the tube, which then runs down the 'A' piller, and through the front wing. From there it takes some crazy three sides of a square route into your airbox, where-upon you should have your (panel) air filter? Or in your case...

Afraid I'm out of action with a rather smashed up ankle. Not too sure when I will be back on my feet, (litterally), as the diaognosis ain't looking good so far. I should imagine that there will be some chaps out and about though.

Oh, and a +1 for removing the carpets and sound deadening. It's just like having a huge wet sponge sitting on your floorpan 365 days a year.

So many different options to chose from. Simply a case of what works best for you. I can only tell you what I did. Whether this is better or worse than what others did, I don't know. Truth be told, I don't think there is much differance between any of the well known products out there...
