Hi woodsman

i used petrol when i did mine (300tdi ) but i filled both items with petrol then sealed them and left them overnight then emptied out next day and washed out again in fresh petrol then emptied out again and left to air out for a couple of days, you could do it quicker but i had a weeks work to do on the car hence the reason it took that long.

Try paraffin. There was a link to cleaning the intercooler with this product but I cannot find it now. It is readily available and not as volatile.

I used white spirits and used the same method as above ie half fill, leave overnight then agitate and empty. Leave to thoroughly dry.

put a decent amoun of prtrol in and cover both ends swirl it all around an repeat till it comes out clean!

this is what i did except when i wen to re-fit it after an hour or so i ran the engine for 5 mins with the top intercooler hose off to push out any residual fumes. then re-fitted the hose :)

Thanks for info, i wondered about paraffin as it cleans breather pipes out a treat but as you say let em dry well before refit . thanks guy's..
