Very true Ratty :) I have changed 90% of mine over the last 12 months TONY

    discovery td5 radiator drain

I would leave the drain plug alone and just disconnect hoses I said before. Then flush away into all the pipes you have disconnected and the header tank. Nice low pressure for 15 mins Red OAT is the stuff 50/50 with water. I always warm the mix before adding it just to speed things up :) TONY

hot air only at high revs

Sounds protracted and should be unnecessary if your coolant system has been well maintained. If you do use the flush just run the car on the drive for 20 mins. You don't need to remove the viscous fan on a TD5 to change the thermostat. Long flexible hose clip driver is your friend :) The...

How to ID a TD5 engine?

More fettling than would have been viable when I changed my HG - Only head I could get for sensible money was a 15P one. Glad I did not go down that route now :) T

    discovery td5 radiator drain

Drain plug is in coolant rail under car just beyond front bumper. 13mm socket, if you undo this make sure you have a new washer. Otherwise just disconnect top hose, radiator hoses and heater hoses and get flushing. Remember it is a 50/50 mix of OAT coolant and water. Bleed thoroughly as per...

Help My TD5 is too thirsty...

Although mine is a manual I get between 400 and 500 miles to a tank averaging 28MPG Any fuel leak should be easy to find (normally). Check your oil level and make sure it is not high which would suggest diesel is leaking into the sump. Next thing would be a thorough service T

    Heating problem

Thay are a bitch to bleed sometimes. Assuming you do not have a physical blockage then bleed system until hot air blows from heater at idle. Otherwise you may have a dodgy stat T

    Rover 75 for a 200tdi?

Under rated IMO. I bought one from the local auctions a couple of years ago to run whilst in between cars. It handled brilliantly and the 2 litre V6 was silky smooth. It also warmed up quicker than any other car I have owned. The 75 was conceived whilst Rover had BMW money and know how - it...

    Galvanised chassis

Marsland & Richards certainly don't list them. Market too small at the moment. Mine is a 1998 and is as solid as they come. You could buy a bare chassis and have it blasted and galvanized yourself - Would be much cheaper T

Petrol in TD5s to stop Diesel Thickening Up with cold temps

I did a week in the Highlands a couple of years ago over Xmas and it was at least minus 18 deg C everynight - Never had a problem though T

How to ID a TD5 engine?

I usually look at the fuel pressure regulator as they are different on the 10P and the 15P (The 10P engine has 2 internal fuel galleries in the cylinder head where as the 15P has only one) T

Yeah they are a bit fiddly farty. The leads do just pull off though and are not prone to being damaged during removal so stick with it. T

Mine started leaking from the bowl after refitting following HG replacement. Bizarre as I only undid the 3 bolts and refitted it. Replaced with a new Genuine one for £100 They are a right PITA TONY
