    Thanks for the pointer... Unfortunately no... the authorised dealer in my area no longer wanna accept my car and they are the only one with the diagnostic tool in my area... Anyway, have asked my mechanic to look for the possible earthing problem...

    @#$%... Mechanic just called... "M" & "S" blinking and can only move at 1st gear when he was gonna take the car to check fuel line pressure... Gonna have to sort this out first...

    Unplugged the MAF (Mass Air Flow just after the air filter?) this morning and no difference.... what could be the problem? I did not take it for a drive thou... just started the engine and revving there...

    Turbo seems ok with 0.8 bar at 4,000rpm (neutral).... as for the clutch cable.... mine's an auto so can't be that... ;-)

    A separate issue... I was told that the EGR valve will remain close if the vacuum pipe is removed so wouldn't that have the same effect as blanking it off?

    Nope... There's no throttle position sensor and the fuel filter is clean... Can't really feel the turbo kicking in on the road when i floor it so will check the boost level next...

    Update.... Noticed that the turbo waste gate (or whatever its called) is not moving much... Could this be the problem?

    Pulled the MAP sensor out and indeed covered in oil... cleaned it but still no luck... injectors checked previously and they're fine... One other symptom is that the engine response seems to lag behind when i was platying with the pedal while not in gear... :frusty:

    ok... here's some update... took the Disco out of the workshop for a drive just now... its not actually stuck at idle but does feel sluggish... The acceleration is not good even for a diesel and gear change can be weird... Sometimes it would be ok while other times the engine would rev but...
