    front tow ball

I had just an ordinary 50mm tow ball bolted directly to my 200tdi's front bumper, put a chunk of steel behind just to reinforce it a bit and no problems at all pushing a caravan about, the only thing wrong was, that it was a tad high. But worked fine. I sold my 200tdi this year and found that on...

front tow ball/bar for SERIES 2 Disco

Hi Charles, Thanks for the reply, even though it's been a long time coming :D As I didn't get any response all those sunny weeks ago, I bit the bullet and bought the kit, I have to say it was a bit of a pig to fit, I'm not sure what screws you're talking about, I had to do everything from...

    towing mirrors

Hi, Anyone recommend towing mirrors for a disco 2. Seems to be plenty of "Universal fit mirrors". But wonder if there are any specially for the disco or maybe you could suggest one of the many universal fit models which is better suited for the disco. Thanks RichardG

    Six speed gearbox TD5?????????

Hi Bob, Yes, I agree with you, the engine does "sound" as though it could do with another gear, I'm always trying to change up another gear and end up changing in fourth. :o However, I don't think it needs another gear, I reckon it must be the five cylinders that make it sound as though it's...

disco s2 - disc and pad change

Hi Jason, I think you must be on the wrong tack here, There is no hub nut to take off on the series 2 disco, just a countersunk screw to undo and the disc just falls off, with maybe a little help. Unless of course I've misunderstood your meaning! Regards RichardG

disco s2 - disc and pad change

Hi, Just about to change the discs and pads on my 2002 disco, will I need any special tools or is it just a straight forward job. I notice in the service manual that landrover make a tool to push the pistons back, is it required or will the pistons push back easily. Any other info would...

    Re Upgrade Td5

Hi Phil, I haven't had my ES done yet, but I have experienced a remapped ecu on a Series 2 td5 disco, the difference is amazing in terms of pulling power, with no hit on fuel consumption either when driven normally. Have a read on this site:- Td5 Alive Limited. Land Rover Td5 Power Chip Upgrades...

    td5 is a tw*t to start

Hi Phil, Just been having a think about your td5's problem. Could it be that you've lost some compression. (broken rings, head gasket etc.) Maybe worth doing a compression test while it's in for diagnosis. Regards RichardG

    Discovery heated front seats.

Hi JTL, My 2002 gs has heated front seats, I think they are fitted as standard, though not sure. The dead giveaway are the heated seat switches on the centre consul (with the window switches). The heaters are fed from a 20 amp fuse in the passenger side fuse box which feeds both seats. Fuse 15...

    power chip issue?

Hi, I might be talking rubbish and might not apply to your particular year of disco, but I've been told it's best not to fit external upgrades and to have the ecu re-programmed/remapped. I haven't had mine done yet, but I have been in a 2002 td5 that has been re-programmed and the difference is...

    Finally upgraded to a TD5!

Yes, chalk & cheese. Mine has ace as well, like being on rails, very stable. With regards to economy, mine is not as good as the 200tdi round town. I have done an accurate check and it's doing 24mpg, which is what it states in the handbook, so mustn't grumble. Haven't done a long distance check...

    Finally upgraded to a TD5!

Hi Mike, I upgraded from a '94 200TDI to a 2002 series 2 GS in December and how I love everything about it. Mines a dark metallic grey (no pictures of it yet) and keeps very clean, know what you mean about Black though. But if you like it as much as I do you'll clean it every other day, I just...

    Considering a Disco TD5 02'

Hi Jens, I'm pleased I've persuaded you. The reason I bought one was mainly because my ageing '94 200 tdi disco was starting to look and feel it's age. Having said that, I did 150,000 miles with it and it never gave me any problems whatsoever. I was very sad to see it go and if the td5 is as...
