    same happened to tuesday,so popped into local independant and it needs a degas/regas and reciever/drier £100 +vat,wouldn`t like to try them top up kits as you need to vacum it all out and put in measured lub(keeps the parts and seals moving) and refidgerant,typicial aint it on the hottest days...

    A thought for those of you with a recent HGF. LR have released a new HG, shim and oil rail. Make sure you get all bits fitted together mind. New headgasket LVB500190 approx €44 + VAT (~£29+VAT) New oil ladder LCN000140L approx €52 + VAT (~£34+VAT) do as ming says always change the thermostat...

    LR guy whats the latest hgf you have seen (ie 2005,2006 reg)also do you find the post 2002 modals don`t seem to take the engine with them when the head gasket go`s ?,as i`ve not heard many people say they have ,as your on the front line i bet you see plenty thats only why i ask:)

    brakes not binding?if no then you need to test the vcu if your are getting feathered rear tyres ,what year is it ?dos it feel like the handbrake is on ,try reversing on full lock dos it feel differcult,these are all the signs of vcu problems,if it is it will cost ya :mad:

    hope the calulater helps make you know for sure what you are getting,remember also that the 1.8 petrol freelander as about 120 bhp which is good for almost most cars but in a 4x4 that power as to go through the gear box,ird(transfer),diff before it gets anywere near the wheels so power is lost...

    what year is yours ? if its post 2002 then it as the mods remote thermostat(white can just behind rad ),later header tank (ratchet cap) that you cannot over tighten,steel head dowels in stead of plastic ,now the bad news is all of this makes not a jot of differance as i have all of these items...
