It sounds like they are back feeding each other, there will definitely be somewhere that these wires are joining together if it isn't the bulbs then check all the areas the wire could flex or chafe, if the wires are fine near the back lights (which is the most likely area) try under the dash...

that may well be your problem! :) It may just need adjusting or you could have a leak at one of the hoses or the intercooler and/or exhaust could be a bit blocked.

Hence the reason I asked, I wasn't sure if the ird was the same for the petrol cars. So it's all good then :)

is the diff ratio the same?

a garage will just use an impact gun, if that fails they will use heat to get it off. Try chiselling the nut round, sometimes it needs the hammering action to free it off hence the reason just a bar wont always work

mine sits at around 3000rpm doing 70, gearbox wont bed in it must have a different 5th ratio. My concern would be that if the 5th ratio is different is the diff ratio correct? Is the box the correct box for your freelander?

I would certainly be looking at the boost pressure, low pressure will cause it to smoke, it could even be a blockage in the exhaust not letting the turbo spool up properly.

I made this from an old chair, the finished article has hooks on to put a ratchet strap around the wheel and hold it on. It works really well :)

deffo bad earth probably in the actual light units themselves, try running a separate earth for your trailer indicators and/or side lights also try giving the trailer socket a good clean, take it off and check where the wires go in it will probably be full of rust and crud.

Possibly the starter relay or a bad connection, both cheaper and easier to start with before you change the starter.
