    Popping out of Reverse

This problem is getting worse - now takes me ages to select reverse. Had it back at the garage that fitted the clutch, but they couldn't find the cause. It sits in reverse when the engine isn't running ( not much use). Any thoughts? Am I looking at gearbox problems? Everything else is fine -...

    Considering a 2.5 DSE

Thanks. It's just had a new radiator apparently. Suspension airbags - is this a costly job?

    Considering a 2.5 DSE

1998 125k on clock. I've currently got a Freelander, so I'm aware well aware of common faults. What common faults are there with the RR 2.5 DSE - what should I be looking for and what questions should I be asking? Thanks in advance.

    Popping out of Reverse

Got a new clutch fitted on my 03 TD4 about 3k miles ago. When reversing, I select Reverse ( obviously), but when moving backwards; the gear occassionally disengages. Any thoughts?

    Air Con

Is the electromagnetic clutch a separate part? The guy that looked at it did refer to the clutch not engaging, but i assumed that it meant the whole compressor was goosed. Thanks

    Air Con

Air Con hasn't been blowing cold, so took it in to be filled. Been told that there is pressure, but the compressor isn't functioning - not switching betwen high and low pressure. They think I need a new compressor - am I right in thinking these are around 500 quid !! It's a 2003 TD4

    Selecting Reverse

New clutch fitted on my TD4 ES 2003 about 5 months ago, but I often have problems selecting reverse. You think you've selected it - but nothing, then it sometimes appears to "pop out". Any thoughts to the cause of the problem? Thanks

    Too much oil?

I'd love to - unfortunately I'm just not mechanically minded ( although I'm learning a lot from this forum), would be happy to learn, but just don't have the time. I have young family, so my "free" time is precious. Happy I've found a local specialist that sorted me out with the clutch change...

    Too much oil?

Thanks for your help - only had the FL for a few months and, from review of the serice book and associated invoices that I've been passed, it doesn't look like there's been a lot of regular servicing going on. I'll get in in for a service this week and make sure the crankcase breather filter...

    Too much oil?

Since mine ( TD4 2003) came back from the local expert, I've notice oil spots on the driveway. It was in for a new clutch - engine out to gain access. The pipe that receives the dipstick had a build up of oil on it - also looks like oil has been hitting the fan - resulting in a nice oil...

    Freelander Clutch problems

Thanks for your comment. I understand what you mean about it either being the master or the slave and the consequence of replacing each - although I thought the whole master and slave came in one sealed unit? I may have picked this up wrong. Presumably taking the opportunity to replace the...

    Freelander Clutch problems

Bought a TD4 ES 2003 privately around 4 mounths ago. Recently developed a problem getting it into gear. No problem with pedal. but struggling to get into 1st or reverse - especially bad on cold mornings or if the car hasn't been used for a few days. Read about the possibility of the cylinder...
