1998 125k on clock.

I've currently got a Freelander, so I'm aware well aware of common faults.

What common faults are there with the RR 2.5 DSE - what should I be looking for and what questions should I be asking?

Thanks in advance.

It depends who has owned it and how well it has been looked after and what it has been used for. What work has been done on it? Have the airbags been changed for instance? At this age they will be ready for changing if they have not been done. If it has a service history with receipts then all the better. If it has not then it's a lottery. Take someone with you who knows what they are doing. It IS going to cost you money to maintain, if you cannot do the work yourself, a lot of money.

Don't buy one if the previous owner has only had it for a short time, they will be getting rid due to problems. As Wammers say's, the suspension airbags will need replacing and so probably will the aircon condensor and leak off pipes. Beware any sign of overheating, it's often just a rad or a pump, but if it's been left it is likely to lead to a cracked head.
I've had mine for 18 months and it's great, go for it.

Thanks.

It's just had a new radiator apparently.
Suspension airbags - is this a costly job?

I paid about £260 for 4 Arnott Gen 2's. Personally I think they are better than OEM, others will disagree:D
Easy DIY job, I have an "Idiots Guide" if you need it.:)

Beware the new RAD, might be a sign of problems, also some new RAD's are faulty, the centre baffle has been known to be missing in the top header tank causing the radiator flow to go straight across the top instead of down and up, cooking the engine:eek:
