refitted the prop shaft on the freelander.
the reason i removed it was because of vibration and a droning noise.
this went when the prop was removed.
now this is back with the prop back on.
but with it i have a burning smell after a long trip.
on feeling the vcu its very very hot after...
can you still get the repair kits for these as mine has split its gaitor and would like to fit new bearings and a gaitor before refitting the propshaft
or any where that rebuilds them to send the prop to?
right car is currently in mondo mode due to having problems with a drone coming into play at 70mph
i noticed today when reversing i can here like a metalic rattle type of noise hard to really explain.
would this be my IRD a bit suspect? or anything i need to be looking at?
just been reading the timing of the said belt for pump on autodata. and yep now understand why its not always been done lol
just got to find out what size the pins are for locking the cam etc
cheers will have a look at removing the pump, i notice my glowplugs have been changed in the past but this one left and due to having a few problems starting i would like to get all 4 done.
looking at changing the glowplugs on my freelander, on taking a look i notice one is blocked by the pump.
how do you change this one and tricks to it?
cheers
have fun when you do have the claim they are well known on the internet for the errors and lieing for what you are covered for.
know so many people tat have had problems and wont touch them any more.
just a word of warning on them.
right done some searching and have found nothing so thought i would do best asking the fourm :D
how are the headlights converted to lhd on the freelander 99 reg? is it a easy one like flick a switch or is it a case of the stick on covers for them?
cheers i did have a read of your thread before. and noted you changed tyres and all went away.
out of intrest did you remove to propshaft to see if the noise went away? the reason i ask is because with my prop removed the noise has gone?
yer the boot is split on the cv at the end of the shaft and spat its grease every where. but i would have thought that this would have given me the vibration. which has now gone on swapping the wheels front to back.
would the split/worn cv on the drive shaft give a drone sound when at speed...
yep invoice is for one bearing only supply and fitted by land rover before i got the car.
with the VCU on the floor i was hoping to find the other bearing feeling rough etc but is very smooth and no play.
