Hi my TD4 runs great pulls well and generally does not smoke at all......except when starting from stone cold............
It takes around 6 seconds to start and when it does I get blue grey smoke that smells of diesel.....once the smoke clears after say 2 seconds things are great.
I do have some theories on this .... when my fuel pumps went down the RAC did their best to get the TD4 going......as part of their checks they checked the the glow plug operation. They could not detect current draw...with their meter, and said glow plugs were not operating.
Now on one occiasion when it failed to start....I did clean the contacts to the CTS and bingo it started. I am suspecting the CTS may ultimately be dodgy ...... making the ECU try and fire the engine on an average setting....so when cold loads of fuel gets dumped while cranking....until there is sufficiebnt heat for some form of smoky combustion.......
When I purchased the car (not long ago)it had a leak test done on the injectors and one was replaced.
Has anybody had a CTS sensor go or cause problems.....your advice would be welcome.
