Dont know much about TD5's but has he disconnected all the wiring and hoses from the EGR valve? Has he taken the whole EGR gubbins off, or just put the blanking plate on and replaced the EGR? Afaik if its blocked off its important to disconnect the leads/hoses id have thought more so on a TD5...

my j plate v8 had very similar problem, was an air leak on the valley gasket and the amp on the distributor was fooked

i had exact same problem, didnt try sediment bowl, thats on me list of to-do's lol, mine was being caused by the EGR being so coked up it was sticking open coupled with a collapsing turbo inlet hose.

shop Just bought a set for my 300. U get silicon pipes to replace the rubber standard ones and some nice shiny replacement metal pipes. I know there for the 300 but email them and they should do u some 200 ones, they are prolly the same anyway.
