Most cars give us ****, but not all of them can run on snow! Freelanders are worth the trouble. Bought mine almost mint. 10 years old, 2 owners, couple of small problems but all sorted except for the 3 amigo's. Next job once this house extension/kitchen is finished. I prefer working on cars.

Thanks for that, I did check the inner cv and didn't seem to be any movement on it but getting 2 - 3 mm lift on drive hub that comes out of IRD.I'll have to check VCU to make sure that its slipping ok, rear tyres have only done about 1k and fronts are almost shot so will be a fair dia...

Its the drive shaft to lh front, after some more investagating on this site it sounds like it could be caused by a vcu problem. I'll have to check it when i get back from out here (offshore). IRD will still need looked aty as getting noisier. Any info you have on this or anyone else it would be...

whats the symptoms from ird unit? think i'm in same predicament but gonna overhaul it, just been on e bay and you can get brg and seal kit for 120 squid

spent most of day checking cv jounts etc only to find excessive lift on shaft going into IRD unit - think brgs must be fook ed, anyone found ird overhaul an enjoyable experience? i'm gonna do it!

Have you tried re-setting the window, theres an easy procedure to follow, sounds like thats all it needs.
