The oil I used was 5w30. The fitter at work gave me it as its what he uses on some of the vehicles there. Do you think that this may be the problem then?

Hey all, Had this problem ever since I changed the oil a month or so back. When starting the engine I get a teeth clenching rattle for the first 2-3 seconds then it disappears. It doesn't sound like chains rattling more like tappers banging. Just wondering what you guys thing it could be...

Hey guys, Wondering what the best oil to use is!? The engine has 144k miles on it and its the BMW 2004 4.4 V8. Currently has 5w - 30 fully synthetic in but it's rattling on startup. Thanks in advance

Lol thanks guys. Pretty sure it's coolant. Not sure about the water pump though coz it seems to be dripping at quite some rate from the back of the engine

Sorry guys should have said its a 4.4 petrol. And I am pretty sure it's the coolant but confused as to where it would be coming from

Right just an update! Thanks for all your help and advice firstly. After looking around tinternet, eBay etc I phoned island4x4 and they sorted me out a nice new Dunlop strut for £222 (cheapest price I could find) I then gave the fitter at work £40 to fit it for me so all in all cheaper than I...

Hey guys, So I put the suspension up on the range and went indoors for 20 mins, the alarm went off so I came out and the front driver side suspension was right low. When I start the car it does raise but slowly drops when driving and the car pulls to the right! Any ideas what it is?
