Hey guys,

So I put the suspension up on the range and went indoors for 20 mins, the alarm went off so I came out and the front driver side suspension was right low. When I start the car it does raise but slowly drops when driving and the car pulls to the right!

Any ideas what it is?

air strut probably popped / ie got a hole in it or its leaking.

dont use the car otherwise you will burn out your suspension compressor pump as it will keep trying to refill the air bag.

Oh poo am at work now, is it an easy fix or expensive

easy fix if you have some mechanical knowledge.

about an hours work if you know what your doing.

and complete air strut costs about £250 - £280 for aftermarket or £600+ for genuine. ]

i have fitted an aftermarket (dunlop) one and its been fine.

Ok I am going to attempt to do this myself!

Can anyone tell me if there are any special tools needed or do I have to remove things in a certain sequence etc

no special tools, just a decent set of spanners etc...

look on youtube, there are videos on the removal and fitment sequence.

i think there RSW's videos if i can remember.

just remember when you finally release the strut be careful when you lower it out as the airline will still be attached to the top of the strut - so dont rip the bugger off !! lol

:D:D:D

Right just an update!

Thanks for all your help and advice firstly. After looking around tinternet, eBay etc I phoned island4x4 and they sorted me out a nice new Dunlop strut for £222 (cheapest price I could find) I then gave the fitter at work £40 to fit it for me so all in all cheaper than I thought and all is well now.

Cheater !! Lol
Should have broke your range rover virginity and done it yourself lol

Just a quick question (for when it happens to my P38). He was advised not to drive it because of the risk of burning out the compressor. Fair enough, I get that. But rather than leaving a car somewhere assuming it breaks whilst away from home, as a "get me home" could you not disable the comressor by removing a fuse or the power to it and then drive without it kicking in? Or not?

tnx

Nik

P38 and L322 system is basically the same but the Electronic Brain system is different...

On the P398 you can do that and it will show a fault that will need to be reset.

On the L322 if the EAS Faults, it also faults the ABS and HDC system (as they all share the same CANbus data stream) similarly if you have a fault in the ABS system is shuts down the EAS system too...fecking annoying....

I suppose you could hold it in access mode, but then couldn't exceed 35mph
