    2002 TD4 Freelander - Fuel Help Please

No 'griff' I haven't changed anything but the actual fuel filter and under bonnet fuel pump. Not sure if this is relevant but I just tried turning on the ignition without starting and the pump buzzes but doesn't stop.

    2002 TD4 Freelander - Fuel Help Please

2002 - Two pump model Freelander 1. Bit of a story so bear with me please. Had a non-start situation a while ago and found, from advice on here, that a tap on the under bonnet pump may work. It did. Knowing that it would fail at some point I have just fitted a new pump and filter (also but...

    What is going on ?

I'll ring the previous owner and ask him if he has had anything done with them. He has certainly kept up with servicing and stuff and many items have been replaced when needed. Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated. Gary.

    What is going on ?

MAF is brand new. Millers is in the tank. Injectors were not removed just a leak-down test done. Vehicle has done 100,000 miles. I did a full service after we bought it including the crankcase breather. As I said earlier it worked fine yesterday so I'll just drive it around for a...

    What is going on ?

Good point. I drove it to Limoge Airport yesterday after fitting the new MAF, 220 kilometre round trip and it never missed a beat. Fingers crossed. :)

    What is going on ?

I set off to the garage today to collect a new MAF the owner said I could try. I don't believe this but after one brief reluctance to pull the vehicle up a hill (had to drop into sport-mode and drop down the gears) the 'thing' ran perfectly for the rest of the journey, no problem. Frustrating...

    What is going on ?

Yes, I'll do that. I'm beginning to wonder what this thing called 'progress' is all about when you have a problem like this. This garage attitude of "well, we'll try this part or that part. All bloody guessing really and at the customers expense, of course. Do you remember the days of...

    What is going on ?

To be honest I don't think he knew :) It starts fine, it ticks over perfectly and with the MAF disconnected it revs with no problems. I'm fairly sure that the crank sensor was checked as part of the testing but I'll check with him tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

    What is going on ?

Just an update on this problem. I took the Freelander into the local LR Independent yesterday (I had a pre-booked appointment) He checked pretty well everything, Air hoses EGR Turbo Injectors Leak-down test All vacuum pipes On the LR plug-in computer No faults detected. He said that...

    What is going on ?

Thanks for that, I'm pretty well decided on a Synergy 2 . Interestingly, when I re-connected the MAF today the car has reverted to how it was before I had the problem. I will talk to Ron and ask him if I can get away with using my existing MAF for the time being (dosh is a bit tight at the...

    What is going on ?

Big thanks to 'angeloc' :tea: Well I disconnect the MAF, I also did Rons mod to the air filter box so I can get to the MAF in future without removing the plastic. Result, revs like a train but with loads of black smoke. On this basis I presume I have a knackered MAF and now have to...

I'd got it in my mind that I'd read it somewhere :o I'll whip the plug off tomorrow and try it. Thanks.

    What is going on ?

Our 2001 Freelander Auto has been absolutely fine until yesterday morning. It does have a slight reluctancy below 2000 rpm as pretty normal. Started it up (instant start as normal) Try to accelerate and it has virtually no effect. Continued pushing of the throttle eventually got it up to 2000...

    A question for caravan towers

Found a bit of a problem when trying to connect my Coachman caravan up to our Freelander 1. The friction lever on the caravan which has to be upright when hitching up fouls on the spare wheel. Appreciate any ideas on how to get around this ?

Changes to GPS Safety-camera POis in France

If you are planning a trip to France. As from 4th January 2012 all Sat-navs in use in France must NOT have camera-location software installed. Both Garmin and Tom Tom have issued an upgrade that removes the POi and replaces it with a "Danger-Zone" POi. Crazy, I know but be advised that if...
