just to do the uncommon thing and let you know what fixed it. he bought an ultrasonic sensor for a 2001 mg zr(same part umber) plugged it in, locked the car, unlocked the car, still said alarm fault. superlocked the car, unlocked the car. alarm fault gone and as yet not came back

i have found out from rave that the earth for the ultrasonic sensor is in the left hand side luggage compartment and the other 2 wires come from a 16 way connector righthand side of ecm under drivers seat, gotta wait till i see brother again to be able to test his out.

even with the "alarm fault" coming up when you put the key into the ignition.when you lock the car the indicators flash and the red light in middle of dash still flashes fast for a while then slow down as normal.

on brothers car the door locks were having fun. firstly the passenger front door would not unlock or lock with remote or key, but would when button was pressed or lifted. changed outstation and lock( bought from ebay) still wouldn't work. then drivers door microswitch would not operate properly...

i broke the habit of a lifetime. never buy the first of a new model, wait till they have fixed all the teething problems then buy one, mine was 5 years old, gas converted, new engine, 112k miles. now its 191k a few advisories on mot's but nothing much gone wrong since.

i've had mine for 17 years and only twice needed to plug into diagnostics

unfortunately i dont know the history of his car, all i know was that it had a lot of problems with the door locks when he got it.

brother fitted new battery when he got the car a couple of weeks ago, its the right one, ive checked also alarm doesn't make any noises, the dashboard says "alarm fault" and interior beeper sounds, every time you put the key into the ignition.

my brother has a 1998 2.5 dse, everytime he puts the key in it says "alarm fault" (not unusual) i swapped the sensor from his into mine ( no messages) and vice versa. his still says "alarm fault" with mine in there, mine has no warning message with his in there.so it cant be the ultrasonic...

no problems, apart from it uses about 100ml of water every 100 miles,and has done for the last 5 years, looked everywhere for any signs of red stains, everytime i have found any i have renewed that part, ie: new radiator, new water pump, o rings and matrix, vapourizer, expansion bottle,plus...

after 2 years of only short journey's(3-5 miles), i decided to take out the plugs,to clean them, got worried when i saw the first 2 were clean as new except a slight tan colour on the center ceramics.thinking that it was the dreaded block cracked, carried on removing them and all 8 were exactly...

i have an oil leak from my valley gasket, that i need to change(sort) but looking through rave, it keeps transferring you to differant sections: ie remove this: refer to this section; remove this refer to this section.etc is there a straight forward written procedure anywhere?

from looking at rave, it looks like its pins 1 and 3 ive never tried it on a rangie, usually they only have 2 pins

did you check that the motor worked before fitting in? the easy way to do this is to have a battery, from live terminal to 1 of the pins in the connector, from negative terminal to the other pin in the connector, if this tries going up, change the wires over and it should go down, if it does not...

i didnt think it was going to be easy, but, i think i will pay my tall local mechanic to clean up the 2 i cant get too

i am wanting to clean out the coil pack connectors,the ht leads have a bit of verdigree on them. i cannot reach to clean them in car, how hard is it to undo the pack to move it forward, so that i can reach? it appears from looking at the coil pack on e-bay, that the bracket holding the pack...
