    Thanks for all your suggestions. I managed to get it out about half an hour ago, sprayed it with WD40 earlier, then used some heat on it and then vice grips and it came... eventually!     Got the flange off, not easy, even once broke it from the gasket it still didn't want to come off the bolt, but eventually got it with a bit of persuasion! The bolt has no thread at the top so can't use nuts and have got no welder, looks like I'm going to have to find a friendly welder! cheers...
