It's on coil springs and looks like it could articulate well judging by the mud flaps and the crease in the tub, so i recon its quite far from standard

As matt said definately put a decent lead replacement fuel additive in it, unless you have documented proof that it either has had hardened valve seats cut into the head or a replacement unleaded head (which is not that uncommon the series 3 at our workshop has had a unleaded head fitted before...

have you tried adjusting it from the square drive on the back plate on the opposite side to where the mechanism goes through??

mine froze solid for 3 nights in a row after wading etc, i managed to free it up each time by putting it in first with the engine off so it couldn't roll anywhere released the handbrake, got under it and tapped the linkage where it pulls the slider in the mechanism back into the gearbox.

normally they will just give your car a once over, then you will need to tape up your lights, and either bring your own lid or hire one thats about all on open track days
