    Mardy starter motor

Dunno why hitting the starter itself did it unless it's a motor brush that had stuck. I would check your starter relay, that is the normal culpret I have found.... An a sharp tap will often free them, so it may have been the door slamming, or the transmitted shock?!?! Failing that, if it...

    300dti general advice

Hi Andy, Mine doesn't actually mark its territory like the old SIII. In fact from my experiences generally Disco's seem far less territorial. Not saying anything is wrong, it is Solihulls best after all though... So might be worth just checking what it is, rather than the SIII "proves it's...

    300dti general advice

Hi, I'm from the same background as you really. I bought my 300Tdi Disco a couple of years back having driven an 88" SIII for many years as my main car. Generally I have not had too bad a time with it, but if you get a strange sudden usage of oil and it starts weeping from the rocker cover...

    Tacka tacka noise...

Ah, Just spoke to my Dad and he pointed out. We have a rock steady vacume gauge and no exhaust variation... Head gasket not likely to manage that, you'd get some effects from the loss of pressure in the cyclinder. Bummer!! (kinda) ;)

    Tacka tacka noise...

Hi Guys, I tend to think it may be oil related too, the old oil was well past it's sell by date. I'm not really sure it's in much of a state to put back in and would probably screw up the new oil filter if I did. It is a thought though. Compression test I thought about, but didn't do. I did...

    A Dead Land Rover 2a

Hi, There is a company called Greenways who refurbished my Zenith and did a very nice job of it. It worked flawlessly for 3 years, which is quite good for a Zenith, mine at least. One thing to consider if you are buying a new carb is how much you want to play with it. I have found the Zenith...

    Tacka tacka noise...

Don't think so, it's a stainless exhaust and the noise seems to be from the block itself, middle -> high up at the back. I've used a listening rod, well a damn great lump of breaker bar actually, but same thing. I couldn't really pin the noise any closer. I'll check it's not a loose bolt, but it...

    Old hand, new member.

Hi Guys, Just a quick hi, I've had my 1983 SIII 88" for about 12 years now and rebuilt most parts of it at one point or another. I'm from near Edinburgh in Scotland. The old landie was doing nearly 18k a year until 2 years ago when I retired it for the second time and now I also have a Disco...

    Tacka tacka noise...

Hi Guys, I have just done an oil change on my SIII 2.25 petrol, stage II cyclinder head. The old oil was quite thick and sludgy but the engine is generally in good order. Following the oil change I have a "tacka tacka" noise from what seems to be cylinder 4. I've had the rocker assembly appart...

    odemeter stopped working

Hi Steamcoaster, I like you think it is suspitious it stopped at such a significant milage mark... There is a company in Wales that will repair and refirbish old odometers called Gower Oaks. They used to be at 01639 732299 and had a web site. I can't find the website just now though, they were...
