    Engine question 7:1 or 8:1??

Hi, Compression gauge? The problem you will have is that an old engine may have been skimmed... You could set the timing using a vacuum gauge, that's how I generally do it.

    Castellating Tyre Wear

Hi Guys, I have a set of Goodyear Wrangler MT's, not a patch on my old Trakedge, but what can ya do... One of the tyres is wearing with alternate shoulders getting worn down. Castellated, like an old Castle wall. Has anyone seen this before? I know the Freelanders suffered from this, but...

    Air Powered Needle Scalers

Hi All, Anyone know if these are any good? I was shown on the other day and it made short work of a pretty crappy wheel, but I just looked at the price and wondered just how useful they are in the bigger scheme of things. They are about 60 quid.

    The obvious question nobody asks...

dsj1979, where can I order one of them?? ;)

    Vibrating gearsticks & Clutch Judder!

It just worked it's way back to the Fairy that splashed it out through the breather hole... The Rocky Mountain OD shares the oil with the Transfer box, via an Archimedes's screw. Solves the problem by 1/3rd! lol

    Vibrating gearsticks & Clutch Judder!

Mine does that too, it used to do it in turn to my old fairy overdrive too. The Rocky Mountain OD at least minimizes this.

    Brake Hose

Dunno mate, but depending on the age of the part it could be imperial or metric...

Landrover sometimes keep records... The MOD sometimes have service records too.

    Brake Hose

Mine did that... Replaced the whole joint including the T-peice. Walk softly, carry big mallet. The messing about was gonna cost so much in time, it was easier to cut it off and replace.

    Mixture all mixed up!!!

Balancing SU carbs is supposed to be a black art... You may want to find a man with the right guages, etc to do it. Never tried myself but can imagine the problems just sitting here...

    Shackle bolt rusted

This may be radicle, but it it worth just F$$n belting it in the hope it will shift the bush too? If it's that bad the bush has to be replaced too and it may save you the hassle of finding a drift for the bush! ;)

    The obvious question nobody asks...

You guys are full of surprises... The last thing I expected was a serious reply! ;)

OK guys, I have sat and pondered this for long enough. I think it is time you Landie Gurus earn your keep! Where are all the women who desperately yearn and want a man with a slightly oily Landie? I have been looking in Scotland and fear only the Polish girls are interested, although that is...

Hi, If you are replacing the channeling in the door, for the window, the SIII club do a plastic one that doesn't rust away in the rain gully. ;) Refitting the window and channels is a fiddly job, give yourself plenty of time. Self tappers in tight horrible places holding the windows in...

    Emissions - MOT

You get carb cleaner from Halfords that can be used instead of brake fluid, same idea...

    Vibrating gearsticks & Clutch Judder!

Erm... ignore the brake fluid bit... Wrong thread!

    Serious rattles and vibration. Help

Mind and use Nylocks on a propshaft! Don't want the beggars coming undone!

    Vibrating gearsticks & Clutch Judder!

Hi Mate, No problem, I would advise finding a local mate who has had a series landie for a few years. It's always difficult to know what is a "normal" oil leak and a "normal" vibration when you are just starting out. The general rule of thumb is if it's a gentle tizz or a vibration would not...

    Landrover Parts Return Policy

Hi Guys, I took the part back and returned it under my 14 days, it's up to them if they wanna restock it. They know my issue and it didn't look convincing. I ordered a new part from Craddock, which is a different plastic. It's transparent, so I can see the water level through the plastic...

    Emissions - MOT

Contrary to many stories, a well maintained SIII 2.25 Petrol is not a particularly high emission engine... It does very well even compared to non-ECU saloon cars, well within the emissions specs. Mind and keep yer tickover down about 800ish, less bangs, less fumes...
