If it has a different pulley then you can just swap it for your existing one - they are keyed onto the shaft and you might need a puller to shift it. Chances are it will be the same though.

A larger alternator will simply output more current on demand and shouldn't give you any problems, but watch how you wire your new plug as some alternators are completely different in this respect. I would also check all of your fuses to see if anything blew. Have you got any unusually heavy...

I noticed that you can get 'repair clips' on eBay which hold the sockets together. Technically they are a temporary repair but apparently they can last for years.

Mine do exactly the same thing - usually after a run when they are warm. I am ordering some anti squeal pads which are stuck on the backs of the disc pads. I have used them on my kit car (4 pot Wilwoods) with success - they used to squeal like a stuck pig!

I am slowly coming to the same conclusion as the TD4 got the bigger rear brakes like the V6 didn't it?. In which case these 16" wheels must be from an earlier model. I stuck an old 5mm spacer behind one today as a test (before it poured down with rain) It seems to (only just) clear the drum now...

If the speaker grilles are the only niggle then you are really doing well :D Funny you should mention them though - my grilles look a little rusty and I was wondering about the best way to tackle them without dismantling the whole car!

I bagged a set of 16" wheels from a 2004 Freebie and wrongly assumed they would fit my 2002 TD4 (currently with 15"). Unfortunately the rear wheels foul on the brake drums - but not by much. Is it feasible to use some 5mm spacers to get the clearance back?

Having just bought a TD4, I have been scouting round my local dealers (needed a px) and whenever I enquired about a 1.8 I was always greeted with something like " .... and don't worry about the head gasket thing - this one is ok. I can show you receipts to prove this one has been done ...... erm...

I recently fitted a Bluespark module which seemed to put a bit more zip into my TD4's lower rev range and has not hurt fuel consumption as far as I know. *edit* 40mpg on my last tank full and no problems at all - much nippier than before!
