    Oil for RRC

After spending a morning tweaking in Classic Kevs barn, the old Classic is running 100% better, even if it does still have a split carb diaphragm, but if nothing else, we've proved that who ever did the supposed "Full Service" on it prior to me buying it, was a Lyin' Bassa. So along with new...

    Oil for RRC

Hmmm ? Interesting suggestions. I'm also an RR newbie, running a very basic 1985 4-door Classic, 3.5 on carbs, and manual 5 speed gearbox. The manual saying to use engine oil in both gearbox and transfer box, I'd not considered anything different. One or the other of them does whine a bit...

Emissions corrected with MAF and Dizzy adjust but very lean now

ClassicKev ... You sound quite knowledgeable, and quite local. Do you take on instructional work? I visit Llandernog quite often and can easily bring the vehiicle to you. I've been waiting for Elsie to give it a tweak since before Xmas. I have PM'd you details, but as they never show up in...

Er, ummm ! I'm still waiting for the "Local Expert" to come and sort my carbs out. Johnny.

    More MPG - Hydrogen Kit

googling around I just found this ... Spark Plugs No these are not what I've got, but they do look interesting. Near the bottom of the page are the Brisk Racing - Model LGS plugs. These are close to mine, but they only have four nodes, not six. Johnny.

No Clarky, these are/were meant for use in petrol engines. If you imagine a standard spark plug with a much thicker center electrode, and the sides of the body extended up to the same level, but with six slots cut in them. Thus forming six fat earth potential electrodes in a circle around the...

    More MPG - Hydrogen Kit

Talkin' of bikes in the 60s, another suposed 'Spark booster' we used to use at Brands involved cutting the HT leads 3" from the plugs, inserting a drawing pin in each end, then feeding them into a piece of clear petrol pipe. The gap between the pins was then adjusted until the spark was seen to...

I keep lookin' at them on E-bay Landowner, but she gives me a clip round the ear if she catches me. Now if a nice Triton were to pop up at the right price, I just might risk the wrath of SWMBO. Johnny.

If ye wis a wee bit nearer High Lander, I'd have askit fer 'is 'ome 20 and gorn fer a look see. I'd love to see one of these rigs in action. But me son escaped from Clydebank last month and has joined me in the soggy Welsh mountains, so I doubt I'll be up your way agin in the near future.:)...

Plugging the holes is no problem, I'm more concerned about the emmissions for MoT. It's overdue anyway, so I guess it's a case of no mods before it gets through, then I've got a year to play with it before the next test . Getting back to the Brown's Gas theories though. Are we in...

"a small depression present in each exhaust stack as the exhaust valve shuts." ...... "basic principal around a tuned pipe on a two stroke. " CLICK ... I do believe I'm starting to get the gist of this! :) (Fond memories of an Ariel Arrow Racer ... many moons ago now.) So ... When (if) I...

    More MPG - Hydrogen Kit

I can see where you're coming from James, but I cannot see a venturi effect being strong enough to pull air from a depressive atmosphere in the air filter to a pulsing compressive atmosphere in the exhaust. Without the non return valves, I can easily see how it would flow the other way. Johnny.

    More MPG - Hydrogen Kit

In the early engines maybe, but my 1985 carburetor engine has no pump in the system. It is supposedly reliant on there being a compression in the air filter and a depression in the exhaust port for air to be drawn (not injected) into the exhaust flow. I can figure no point in the Otto Cycle...

Will do, but as I said, they are buried in my shed somewhere. It may take some time to find them. It's a big shed. Meantime, any opinions on the Range Rover V8's Pulsair Air injection system. I cannot get my head around that one at all. Johnny.

Sorry, we seem to have latched onto a different plug here. The ones I used in the 60s were 'Jet Ignitors', which were made in UK, not 'Jet Flame Igniters' from USA. Champion bought the patent for them in order to take them off the market, and UK manufacture ceased. No manufacturer wants a...

I respect your opinion, but I do not bow to it. I have used them in several different cars, and found them to be very effective. My mistake was to sell a car on with the standard size set still fitted. As you say "There is some merit in fitting a second plug at the other side of the combustion...

    More MPG - Hydrogen Kit

Slightly off subject, but does anyone remember 'Jet Ignitors' from the '60s? A "guaranteed for life" Spark plug, that also increased the Bang power. ie: It produced a much fatter spark, which burned more of the fuel. Where did they disappear to? Champion bought the UK patent and took them...

WTF with the petrol situation !!!

Running a 13mph Classic and my nearest petrol station being 15 miles away, whenever I fill it up I normally fill a couple of 20 lt gerry cans as well. Vital cargo for the occasional long distance journey. I've not been travelling a lot lately though, but in trying to keep up with the recent...
