xdi is supposed to rev better ...... but you don't get low end grunt as TD4 has variable vane turbo. XDi tunes well you can easily get around 125-130 bhp synergy,egr,air filter exhaust. Somehave had up to 150 ...... but you need to increase boost for that and fit better intercooler..... good...

Hi David which temp senor did you replace...... the coolant one is located down near the glow plugs - not the sensor up near the epansion bottle..... just a thought. Also seem to remember seeing something about air in the fuel ..... and fuel lines and also rail pressure regulation sensor. Cheers

Yep did it to mine - 6lts .... filled rest to brim with diesel. Ran it to 1/2 empty and refilled with diesel. Then ran this to virtually flat empty and refilled.... Phew. All ok. Probably have shortened life of pump seals...ulp.....

Cold starting is an issue ....... maybe if your truck is garaged you may get away with it..... Cremator is yours garaged??? do you live in Scilly Isles!!!! My golf TDi and SAAB Tid loved veggie ..... up to about 40% used to run until September and then use again in May. Affraid to use in my TD4...

Hi thats exactly how I did it!!! well done .. how long did it take you??? Haynes talks complete twadle at times!!!! Infact when I replaced IRD I took whole subframe off in under an hour ..... and access to IRD is great then. Great pics ...... good job mate.

Hi don't worry - just do bottom ball joint ..... release roll bar links and loosen brake pipe.....bingo. Undo bottom ball joint nut - remove then use a crow bar to lever down on exposed stud .... it will release....mine truck is 10years old and it I managed it. Don't think about it too much as...

Veggie oil will cause starting problems in winter.... d good trick if you get caught out is to take engine cover off get a towel pour boiling water over 3/4 and lay it over top of engine .... then get anther towel lay it over the top and wet it with boiling water... being careful to try and...

Agree .... don't think yer engine is knackered it is a fueling issue ...... could be pump timing these are supposed to be super sensative to it ....... get a specialist to check and adjust... don't forget coolant sensor only cost a few squid... good luck please post outcome..

Be very careful regarding noisey IRD .... and VCU .... read up on this in these forums.... I did buy a right nail and it was costly .... it's ok now. You do get what you pay for ... TD4's from 2k upwards .......look to spend 5k ish if you can and get facelift .....oh one last thing .... check...

Hi ... these Freebee's are ok .... and are quite cabable little buggies....no 110 though. As you must have found all Landrovers have their issues.... FL1's TD4.... you need one with a really good service history .... look for IRD noise when hot (sounds like wheel bearing drivers side), extreme...

Still using 2 stroke .... started putting in my wife's Cooper diesel .... this now drives so much better.....and it feels more flexible. I thought this happened in my Hippo but was not 100% sure .... it's only mild but definately torque at the extreme bottom end is improved...feels like turbo...

Hi Phil don't spit your dummy out!!! ..... keep us in the loop ..... I don't pretend to know but hey .... if yours has stopped the large plume of blue smoke - thats fair enough. My truck seems very sensative to glow plugs ..... when I replaced the hole lot with NGK ... smoke was reduced by 80%...

ps you must support drive shaft dot let it flop down + empty IRD of oil. Be carefull of brake hose you may need to release clamp to allow more free play.... It's not rocket science....

Hi did mine easy job ....... jack car up @ front....then undo bottom all joint and push wishbone down so it releases bottom of macpherson. (if this nut is real tight and rotates ball joint...put jack under ball joint and put some pressure on it - it will create just enough friction to allow nut...

Good man ..... some idiot did that to my truck underwaranty.....they ended up putting new fuel lines in!!!!! Nice to know a solution. Can we have a picture please....
