    Chnaged Tyres: Noise and Vibration

Your new tyres should be on the rear and older on the front. This means the VCU isn't working as hard to compensate for the difference in circumference. One caveat is if they are different makes and have difference rolling circ. this may not be the case. Try swapping them and see if any better.

    Door won't open

both me and Darmain had this last year after the cold snap. If it opens from inside ur in luck. If not you can remove the internal panel with it closed. I couldn't open internally or external. Eventually banging lock with hammer and working inside mechanism it came open. Then removed lock...

    More problems -now the engine

going to get my mechanic to do this one, it's an auto so difficult to lock engine and i know it will be murder to shift the bolt. he has decent air tools which make it a 30 min job. doubt he'll charge me more than a few quid. not 100% this is the cause of rattle but worth it for hundred plus...

    More problems -now the engine

Well I've ordered the ebay bit - seems they sold quite a few. Will let you know how it pans out. Genuine LR parts - about £266 for pulley, bolt and key so feel with worth risk if it doesn't last as long.

    More problems -now the engine

Well I think we have the culprit. No signs of wear but I think all those little white specs are tiny metal particles. anyone tried on of these? Believe landy part is over £200...

    More problems -now the engine

Just had the AA to it - they think it's mechanical and coming from the timing chain area. Mentioned something about a tensioner coming loose/cracking. Think i've read something on here about that.

    TD4 Starter motor removal.

Did mine few year ago - yes it's very tight. Make sure you get good quality sockets that fit well or it will round off and cause you a nightmare. Mines the auto - and initially i undid the wrong bolt (must have been holding the gearbox on!), you can't see it but should be able to feel it with...

Well its nearly 20K on since I changed this, have been looking at the ebay kits as money tight - Land Rover Freelander TD4 Crank Case Breather LLJ500010 on eBay (end time 01-Feb-11 07:42:00 GMT) I used the original Landrover kit back in 2008 before but anyone report any problems with...

    O/s Front windows cables

Well I took a chance on this ebay window motor and works perfectly. Build quality seems fine and should last the car - wish I'd used these when I did the rear ones last yr. One thing to note on my '02 the electrical connector was different. It comes with a plug with two loose wires in the...

    Facelifted TD4 Mk1 should I buy?

I think late 05-06 a best of bunch and should have a lot of the faults corrected that plague early models (IRD ratios etc) and it's a fairly newish car. I'd hope it would be more reliable than a P38!

Automatic gear box knackered - advice :)

Good to hear others have had this done, i'm up north. I had no idea this could be done until I contacted this lot - sounds like you got an even better deal. Could have searched a bit more but I was pretty desperate to get it back as almost un-driveable as it's pretty hilly around here. So...

Help please for tow bar electrics for freelander

I'm looking to fit one to pull a trailer? Did you go for a bar from ebay - seems a few but the vehicle specific kits looked expensive. I got a bit confused on the diff electrics - what's the most common trailer type 7 or 13 pin?

Automatic gear box knackered - advice :)

Well picked it up this morning, done around 50 miles since and problem seems to be fixed!! Box seem generally smoother too and more power - guess that's the oil change if they've had it in bits. It was the piston that failed - over-machined the guy said but Jacto would never admit it. They...
